Squirrel Sunday - Secret Society Startup

The squirrels are back for another #squirrelsunday

P1013592.JPG
This guy is plotting on forming a secret squirrel society where they can plot various criminal activities like raiding the human garbage cans. He just needs to ask a few friends to join his society...

P1013596.JPG
I don't want anything to do with raiding garbage cans said the first friend. I am 100% organic over here!

P1013594.JPG
The next friend was too busy with other clubs like the league of rodent voters and scramway clubs. I just don't have the time in my schedule to be plotting garbage can raids.

Next the squirrel approached random passerby's. This guy just ignored him while chasing down a cicada.

P1013831.JPG
This one threatened to call the hawks on him.

P1013829.JPG
This one wasn't agile enough for garbage can raiding. If I was 10 years younger I would join you in a heartbeat but now after eating so much trash from the humans I am overweight and have creaky joints.

P1013830.JPG
Hurumph! Be gone with you and your dastardly plans. I am a well distinguished member of squirrel society to be hanging out with a garbage raider!

P1013587.JPG
Finally the squirrel had to be less picky about forming his secret society by letting in the sneaky chipmunks.

P1013639.JPG
They are very transactional and require the trash be divided up equally before anyone eats anything. I get 1/10 of every day old bagel you find or I'm out!

P1013720.JPG
The rabbits ear's perked up. Bagels you say! I'm in.
P1013711.JPG
The rabbit's job was to be the lookout for any dogs that might come running out of the house... Sadly this guy chickened out at the sight of a mere dachshund and put their whole plan into peril.

In the end the squirrel was not able to form a cohesive secret society for raiding garbage cans. But he did make a lifelong friend out of this toad that was trapped under one of the trashcans. Croak you have saved my life now I will follow you around forever croak! Maybe next time the squirrel should just focus on working hard collecting normal acorns rather than turn to the gang life of garbage can raiding.

That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)

I also love spotting animals along the way – although in my case, it usually ends with a photo of a bush where something might have been hiding 😉 Here, our squirrels are red and look a bit different, but that hare would definitely feel right at home. Just yesterday, I came across a young deer on the edge of the city during a walk and managed to snap a few photos! But I’ve got to say – your shots are on a whole different level. I can handle flowers and landscapes pretty well, but when it comes to animals, they’re always faster than me (and my camera) 😅 Big respect for capturing them so beautifully!

I know the feeling of trying to get a shot then all you end up with is a blur and a bunch of branches. Thankfully these fox squirrels are somewhat tame so they stop long enough for a photo. Whenever I see a deer around here I always check myself for ticks, they drop a lot of them along the way and usually one or two end up on me as I follow the deer into the forest lol.

Haha, exactly! Nature photography is like a game of luck and patience 🎯🌿 I totally relate to the blur-and-branches outcome! 😄 Glad those squirrels cooperated for you — and wow, I didn’t even think about the tick situation when following deer. That’s a wild but important tip, thank you!

Ticks and mosquitos are my nemesis.

Our squirrels are red now.
Yesterday, two squirrels ran across my path at once. One was running from left to right, and then the other was running the other way around.

I've seen them run spirals around the trees here fighting over territory. Some even get knocked out of the trees during their fights lol.

Nice composition. I remember my young self reading Aesop's Fable when I was in grade school. 🤗❤️🫰

Aesop's fables themed with just squirrels and a few other characters, if I can get a good shot of a scorpion I could do the Squirrel and the scorpion crossing from tree to tree. Then mid air the scorpion stings the squirrel and they both fall to the ground.

That's alright even your story is centered with one kind of animal. Just like the way a fox.. (or is it a wolf?) saw a grapevine and he want to pick some fruits but unfortunately he can't reach the fruits. 🤗❤️🫰
