Squirrel Sunday - The Reckless and Unprepared

Its #squirrelsunday again...

Summer is here to stay said the young and reckless squirrel. I don't need to store anything away and I'll just feast on all my walnuts right here and now.

The wise old squirrel scolded the young one saying he won't live another season with an attitude like that.

The prison yard chipmunk told the young squirrel its ok to be reckless and he was able to survive any possible winters by stealing from others, that is until he got caught.

Darn telescreens are lurking everywhere in the forest. Be reckless but keep an eye out for big brother said the chipmunk.

PC139130 copy.jpg
The house sparrow warden told the chipmunk he would be getting more time added to his sentence unless he reforms his behavior.

Winter finally hit and all the fat summer geese are heading south. They have wings but the squirrels are too small to outrun the cold.

PC139125 copy.jpg
Now the reckless squirrel is begging for food in the human alleyways. Please can you spare part of that bagel for me? The human sent a dog after him and he had to run out into open territory.

PC139132 copy.jpg
The wise old squirrel had to look away at the horror about to unfold.

Now the owl has found an easy meal with a squirrel out in the open. This squirrel is nice and fat as he ate all his walnuts early on. Now I can feed my chicks at home and survive the winter.

PC139137 copy.jpg
I see it every year, only the prepared and cautious squirrel survive. They keep taking advice from that prison yard chipmunk and get wrecked by the winter.

PC139150 copy.jpg
Even the goofy upside down nuthatch knows to save for the winter. At least those silly reckless squirrel keep the owls off my back for a while.

P5316431 copy.jpg
Word has it the chipmunk is collaborating with the sparrows to keep the owls away from their territory by convincing the squirrels to get caught out in the open with their begging. Moral of the story save up and never trust little tiny rodents.

That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)

Sort:

Aigoo, it's really better to follow those who has more experience than be reckless and do things that only bring short happiness. Is it too late for that little thing now?

Its too late for him, now the owl is well fed.

LEO Power Up Day - November 15, 2023

And the squirrels, as I see, are plump, their cheeks are so big.

Yeah they have their winter coat and fat. Towards the end of winter you can go squirrel fishing.

Oh yes, trusting anyone is very hard now a days because even our relatives and friends can betry us for just a littl sum of money

One finance guy said the best way to get investment money is from friends, family and fools. The three fs of finance lol.

Hahaha😃😂

Daaaaaaaaaaaaayum your squirrels are WAY fatter than mine. But our winters here aren't as harsh so they don't need as big of a fatsuit.

Yeah they get pretty plump to survive the polar vortex from Canadia. The hawks and owls get to eat well during winter.

I mean, a fat squirrel on a cold winter night does sound pretty tasty. It's very noble of them to be so close to the bottom of the chain.

Do you have to save nuts for the winter in prison?

Hah the little chipmunk is living the safe life within the confines of his enclosure. The sparrows do organize gambling fights though for pecans.

This was one of your best, I think! I really liked it!

I've been getting lots of photos of them with acorns and walnuts in their mouths.
