A Weekend in My Home Town | Biñan, Laguna

Vacation.png

It will be almost a year since we decided to move from the busy city life in Biñan to a somehow laid-back lifestyle here in San Pablo. This has been the biggest decision that we have discussed so far, and as someone who grew up with the conveniences of life, we talked it over and over if we should be migrating or not. For April, moving to San Pablo is one of the things that she is considering given the financial status that we have and she will be nearer to her parents, but on my side, it is the opposite.

Prior to having Dyn-Dyn ideally, we talked that we would pick a place that is in the middle, as I am from Biñan and she's from San Pablo, the middle would be either Calamba or Cabuyao

But that ideal plan did not push through as the cost of having a house in that area is quite costly. Monthly amortization would cost around 15,000 PHP, which is around $250.00, plus some miscellaneous expenses such as food, water, and electricity. Owning a home isn't feasible. Renting can be done, perhaps, but the cost will just be almost half.

Going back, since we had an extra rest day thanks to the mental health initiative by our company, we were able to visit my parents last weekend and spend some time with them. In the early morning of Saturday, I told April that we would visit the bridge that connects the two barangays in Biñan our Brgy Malaban, and the other was Dela Paz.

Scanning the old picture that I got there seems to be no change at all with the said bridge. Apart from that, there's more vandalism. It remained the same. It was early in the morning when we went to the said location. People of all ages tend to flock there as some are doing their regular Zumba session, walking practice, and even tiktok videos. I mean, the scenery above is beautiful, and who wouldn't be excited to get some good shots in the area, especially with the clouds?

From our home to the bridge, it took us less than 20 minutes. We were told that there are some vendors selling food in the place already, so there's no need for us to bring something to eat anymore.

Making sure that there's no possible ingredient that can trigger the allergies of Dyn-Dyn I asked the vendor if the food was sautéed with chicken, especially the porridge, as it is usually prepared that way. But he mentioned that he didn't use chicken or any other poultry products in his food. It is just some basic ingredients such as garlic, onions, and saffron powder, and for the seasoning, a dash of fish sauce to taste.

The same goes for the other dishes, such as pancit and spaghetti: no meat, no artificial powders. Since we are five, our total expenses were around 105 PHP, or less than $2.00, which is cheap as I was expecting that we would be spending around 200 PHP for the whole food set that we have eaten.

We rested and took our sweet time while bathing in the sun. Due to heavy rain for the past few days, we have not been able to go outside, so we took the opportunity already. I also informed April about some stuff in the area where if she crosses the other side of the river via boat, she will reach the Metro Manila area where big buildings can be seen too!

I have never had the chance to use this route and I don't have any plans to do so, though it is good to know stuff. While eating, there's a small stand that sells tilapia in front of us. It's freshly harvested from the fish pens in Laguna de Bay. I wasn't able to ask for the price of the fish as I was not interested in buying them and bringing them back to our home later.

Visiting my parents was a worthwhile experience since after I got married, we just stayed there for a couple of hours and then left the same day, but this weekend we were able to spend 3 days and two nights with them. When we got home, we talked about not being at ease anymore in our old houses, the same with instances wherein we stayed in April's house. I guess we do not have a place anymore in our parents' lodging, and we were on our own when we decided to leave.

Laki naman ng Monthly amortization, if ever aguy. Mas better ata rent muna din ipon malala. Anyways you have a good place din ah. Live the view on the bridge.

So for now mas bettee talaga renta muna.

Medyo okay din mag visit from time to time.

Sila ma and pa na lang ung nakakauwi don to visit the house.

I am happy because you visited us especially since I saw Dyn-Dyn hoping that next time I want to go to the mall with you

Pag pwede na. Probably before Christmas since we will be there on that day.

When we got home, we talked about not being at ease anymore in our old houses

Awwwe, I feel this. It's a happy-sad feeling. It's just us growing and being independent which is great as we have already started lives of our own but at the same time kinda sad too. But yeah, that's life but it's also a good feeling to reminisce childhood memories in our old house and visit our parents every once in a while, cause sometimes we are too busy in our lives that we often forget they are growing old. Glad you and your family had your vacation.

cause sometimes we are too busy in our lives that we often forget they are growing old.

This is the main reason why we went home, time isnt that something that we can rewind anymore. Simple joy nalang ng parents na makita ang anak at apo nila from a far a way place na.

I totally agree. Namiss ko tuloy umuwi sa bahay.

Ay luhh, kamahal naman ng monthly payment. Kaya pala ang stress mo na, Teepee. Happy kami makita kang nakapag-bakasyon, at nag destress sa Laguna de Bay. 😊

I'm hapy for you po to be able to visit and stay there for that long. Somehow I know the situation na pag bibisita sa mga parents dina nakakatagal. My aunts and uncles are like that po. Sometimes saka nalang sila nakakabisita pag may okasyon na .

You got a nice view there po. Perfect for photoshoot.hehe lalo sa bridge with the blue sky.

Aww. It's always not the same when we come back to our old houses. Maybe because we got a taste of living on our own.

How are you @tpkidkai. Nkaka miss ang pinas kahit bahain.

Taga Malaban ka din ba Oli?
