I want a cat-dog, a hybrid... Uhmm, no, better not

in Weekend Experiences6 months ago (edited)

Cats are fascinating beings, full of mystery, especially when in the dark they turn on their eyes like flashlights, although actually I just looked this up on the internet and it says that cats' eyes reflect light and cause that effect due to a special reflective structure called tapetum lucidum.... Uhmm, although I really don't care what science says, to me they turn on their eyes at will for a mysterious reason known only to themselves.

Of course they are also very relaxed, they seem indifferent but they really are not, they are loving beings, capable of loving each other and maybe they can also love a human if they like him/her.

The truth is that I have not always been a cat lover, as a child I was afraid of cats, I associated them with horror movies in which a black cat was always a bad omen. Their gaze frightened me, so penetrating that I felt they were planning something against me, or against all mankind.

Now, I find that look hypnotizing and fascinating, sometimes tender, sometimes firm as when they concentrate to hunt their prey.

I didn't always love cats but I always respected them, I never tried to mistreat any, but I really didn't like having them around.

It wasn't until I had a girlfriend who loved cats, dogs, all animals and she lived collecting stray cats and looking for homes for them, sometimes I helped her. She also had her own cats and I had better make friends with them if I wanted to stay close to my girlfriend at the time.

So, little by little, I began to have a special affection for cats, until I fell in love with one, in love to my soul with that little animal.

A stray cat that hung out near my house had a litter of kittens and there was one that was always isolated and whom she rejected, she did not give him milk or groomed him, I watched everything and that kitten moved me so much that I took care of him and he took possession of me, he was very spoiled and very tender, he was my companion until he was about 2 years old. He appeared dead at the door of my house, it seems that some neighbor poisoned him.

It hurt me a lot, I was sad for a long time because of that, I apologized for not taking good care of him, but he had grown up and some mornings he didn't want to be with me, so I let him out so he could feel free.

That was the first cat I fell in love with, during the mourning and some time after, I refused to have another cat. Until other cats came to me through my eyes and I have had the joy of living very closely with these wonderful beings.

However, I currently do not have cats, nor any other pet. To tell the truth, the only pet I like are cats, I have nothing against any animal, I respect them a lot, but I like the independence of cats and their silent company, besides I like that they don't give off any penetrating smell, well I perceive them a soft smell that I don't find unpleasant, unlike dogs whose smell I find somewhat uncomfortable.

I can give many reasons why I like cats and I can not think a lot if you ask me why I like dogs, I like them but from afar, although I have some doggy nephews, that is another topic, there is one that is so spoiled that even I spoil him when I see him, but if he wants to lick someone he better not use my body for that, he better go with my sister who is his mistress, or the other way around, she loves to feel that slimy tongue caressing her, that part I pass.

It is possible that much of what a kitten does is funny to me and I know that with cats I am more indulgent and I can easily forgive if they pee on the Christmas crib, now if a puppy does it, I might roll up some piece of paper and tap it....

In the space where I live now I can't have pets, but if I have one again it would definitely be a kitten. What I like most about cats is their independence, their ability to fend for themselves and still accept the help and love of a human who likes them.

And you, do you prefer cats ordogs?

I totally agree with you, I love cats, but in my case I have always loved them, since I was born, I can assure you, and I hope you can have one soon if you move to another home.

Look, cats are magical beings and their eyes are like portals, they are in this world to protect, you can't even imagine the power they have. They have saved my life and they protect me. I have a black cat, Cata, and she is super protective of me.

Happy to know that you love cats! Big hugs!

Cata, what a beautiful name. I have always felt that cats are magical beings and yes I have heard that they are protectors, they are very mysterious, I don't doubt that they have some kind of power.

As always, a pleasure your visit and your nice comment and sorry I had not responded before but I have had complicated days.

A hug and thanks for the support! 🤗

Thanks to you, it was a pleasure!🤗

I have had a similar experience with cats! I was never scared them but wasn't particularly fond of them either. But, my roomate in college bought a cat and somehow I fell in love with the little menace! And haven't looked back ever since. I would like to have a cat and dog both!

Many times these little beings simply captivate us, my sister used to hate them, now after she is over 50 years old she is in love with a cat and even lets it into her house and serves it food.

Thank you very much for your support, Ecency team.

You're welcome! :)

😅 well yes, although my fear seemed not to have much basis, but as you say, loving them now, now that's great!
