Youths' Feeding Program

I would like to share something beautiful that recently happened in our small community—a great experience during weekend. It is something that reminded us how powerful young people can be when we come together with purpose.

Last Sunday, we, the Youth organized a feeding program for kids within our Purok (neighborhood). It was our way of giving back, spreading love, and showing the little ones that they are seen, cared for, and valued.

We prepared the ingredients for rice porridge and champorado. For rice porridge, we just put boiled eggs and chicken to make it more pleasant-tasting for kids. Of course, since our goal is to make it nutritious, we added veggies on it. For champorado, it is a sweet chocolate rice porridge in which I believed that the kids love the most.

What made this experience even more meaningful was the fact that it was completely youth-led. From the early planning stages to collecting donations, preparing food, organizing logistics, and cleaning up after the event—it was all handled by our youth group. At first, we weren’t sure we could pull it off, but with teamwork and determination, we realized we were more capable than we thought. It was a reminder that young people don’t have to wait to lead—we just have to step up. Of course, this wouldn’t have been possible without the help of our community. Aside from the youth, some adults also helped us especially cooking the porridges. We’re also grateful to our barangay officials for requiring this kind of community engagement. It did not only feed the little kids, it also helps young people realize their purpose. That spirit of bayanihan—helping each other without expecting anything in return—was alive and strong. It made the day feel even more special, knowing it was a true community effort.

This feeding program is only the beginning. Our youth group is now planning more activities, including clean-up drives, story-telling sessions, and maybe even a mini mobile library. We’ve learned that we don’t need a lot to make a difference. Sometimes, it only takes a willing heart, a few friends, and a shared dream to create something beautiful.

To wrap it all, I would like to remind you--especially the young ones that the world doesn’t need perfect leaders—it needs caring ones. Thanks for reading and supporting our journey. Let’s continue to use our voices and our actions to spread kindness wherever we are.
