A weekend with setbacks but a very satisfying experience!!!

Hello community!

On this occasion I share with you the great experience I had a few weekends ago, the tour was a little exhausting, but super beautiful, full of joys and new experiences. My friends and I set out to go a long way to get to the natural vineyard pools.

Well, no more things to start the trip, so don’t miss it!

It all started in the town of Viñales, we hadn’t walked two steps yet and there were already companions drinking ice cream, it seems that they had skipped breakfast 😅... the bad thing was that no one knew how much we had to walk in the mountains, because we have the bad habit of going to the places without knowing where it is or ever having gone.

In my opinion that makes the trip full of mystery, uncertainty very interesting, trying not to get lost and reach the final destination without problems, well at least we had a notion that it was far away.

Some seem to have been more hungry than others, but it seems that the ice cream gave him good energy, because it seems that he had taken an energizer

I always love outdoor experiences, walking aimlessly, being excited to see the beautiful landscapes that nature offers me and that’s how this began.

Well, to walk it was said, the first point is a Finca of someone who kindly lets in people who are lovers of hiking, mountaineering, mountaineering and other attractions, of course he also offers his things in a ranchon such as tobacco, fruits and some crafts...

After passing the ranch, the beautiful peace and tranquility of nature arrives, the silence, you can only hear the animals slightly if you get very close to them, the views are super incredible, it makes you want to run and jump on these beautiful lawns... all very happy we had just left.

Every meter we walked brought us closer to that feeling of experiences that there are no words to describe, we were all connected with good vibes.

Everything was going great until we reached the mountain with the name Cueva de la Vaca, because the slopes began.

IMG_3633.jpeg

Luckily for us this mountain had stairs, and we didn’t have to climb it to its top, it had an intermediate hill where it had a cave that crossed it to the other place, the stairs were narrow and steep, but unfortunately we were still fresh and it wasn’t that high.

Once upstairs, we take the opportunity to make a mini stop, to take some photos. I had some trees in front of me but the view was quite nice, and we didn’t have time to go up to the rockiest part, because we had only started walking. There was still a lot to do. And we had to play with time.

Here we can see some hooks embedded in the rock, these are used to make pendulum, it’s very fun, unfortunately that day they were not doing because there was a mini mountaineering festival in the area.

IMG_3673.jpeg

Then we went through the first cave this was not very long, about 150 meters less is quite dark, and you have to be careful with the murcialagos, because if it gives them a lot of light they start flying in circles inside and I don’t know what would happen 😅...

As soon as you leave the other side, you can see a beautiful view, you could spend hours sitting admiring it, the only problem was that to go down there were no stairs, this was in path mode with large stones and bushes on the sides some cross the road and you have to push them away or even jump them.

Once we arrived at the foot of the mountain we set out to have a snack, we had not walked for an hour and we were already hungry, we took advantage of the shade and the good breeze that is in the countryside under the trees and we replenished energy, because now was when the long stretch of the walk came.

And then we go out on foot, in this town the lands for agriculture are very good, and as you can see the guajiros plant all possible places.

In one of the rocky parts of the mountains we met some people who were climbing, they were making a new circuit fixing the hooks and exploring which parts could be climbed better, in these areas it is very seen, I would have liked to have participated but we already had a fixed destination.

IMG_3713.jpeg

This area of Pinar del Rio was affected by a cyclone in September of last year and we can still see some peasants who were affected, after a while walking we found a country bar with a good terrace where the shade and the air that ran gave you energy, it seems little but walking in these mountainous areas to the strong sun of Cuba is exhausting.

With we continued the walk at a double pace... we were already in the heart of the Viñales Valley, wherever you looked at the landscapes were spectacular, the guajiros who live in the surroundings are very friendly, thanks to them because we didn’t know the way very well, and every time when you found a house it was to ask where to take.

IMG_3744.jpeg

IMG_3741.jpeg

IMG_3745.jpeg

Well, this was the last house we found on the way, they rented horses a pity because we only had very little distance left and then we thought of leaving it for the return, a pity because in the end we were late for the return, and they were not available...

We found a plum tree, I hadn’t seen it for a long time, at the moment I picked up some to eat and while I entertained myself, we were crazy to arrive and see the natural pools, we were quite hot and a mess would come to us.

At last we arrived... we all screamed with emotion and joy, and we ran down the slope, when we stood on the edge it gave us a very strong blow what we saw.

Well, everything was dry, the shortage of rain in this province is high, not a drop of water...

IMG_3783.jpeg

IMG_3792.jpeg

We sat on the stones and took some photos, until our salvation arrived, a guajiro who roamed the place told us that about 300 meters less inside the cave there was still water, because these caves reach 14 kilometers long. Well, if with our mouths open, we stay...

IMG_3803.jpeg

IMG_3793.jpeg

We immediately took the cell phones, activated the flashlight and walked inside the cave.

IMG_3804.jpeg

IMG_3807.jpeg

It was very very dark at some point we all turned off the lights and kept silent, and you stayed as if you were floating in space, the weather was very very cold and the very beautiful formations in times of water this cave comes to be with a great level of water.

IMG_3808.jpeg

IMG_3811.jpeg

IMG_3817.jpeg

In the end we managed to find a place with water a little deep and apart from the fact that it was too cold very dark, nothing was seen at all, one of us the brave dipped for a few seconds and we left, because it would not be very funny to run out of charge on the phones in there.

IMG_3823.jpeg

Once outside when we went to sit down two bulls came down and we took a quick exit from the middle, what a bad impression it is to see those animals up one looking for water.

IMG_3824.jpeg

IMG_3827.jpeg

After the scare of the bulls we served ourselves a drink and lit some tobaccos because we are in the province of the best tobaccos in the world, and there we started chatting and laughing at the things on the way.

After a long time, the saddest part came, that of turning back all that route that we had already done, ugh, super exhausting just thinking about it.

In general, the trip was super incredible, we had many new experiences, we got to know a place, and despite not finding the natural pools as we imagined, we stayed with the positive things.

The road was 5 kilometers and a peak for two (the round trip) we got to walk about 11 kilometers without saying that we went up a piece of mountain and the plain was very scarce here.

Anyway, a super weekend full of experiences and emotions that we will never forget, and I hope to be able to repeat it again...

All the photos were taken by me from my phone, I hope you like the post. Have a good day.

Chao Chao….
