Dar 'Gottem' Gearnut is a gnome of epic -- nay, of legendary -- proportions. His 25 health (at max level) is the highest we've ever seen of a Splinterlands card. He's come prepped to tank it up, and in this post I'll share some of the battle I played with him over this past week.

Let's dig in:
Just can't get past him
Gottem loves holding the front while Mantaroth dishes out the damage. In this battle, it looks mediocre at first with Kelan killing Goff, but in the end they just can't get past Gottem, and Mantaroth has all the time he needs to clean things up.

Mega meat-shield in B2B
In Back to Basics, Gottem is an absolute unit with his 25 health. In this battle where it's Earthquake/Scattershot I put him as my tank with the Triage/Scavenger under Tofu, expecting the other player to either go Drath or Tofu. I was able to pick away Drath with Snare while Gottem barely felt a scratch from the enemy & Earthquake.

Heal the TANK
Gottem gets 'em again in this awesome big-boy blast battle. I stick him in the front and accept a little Blast damage from the 2nd position Taunt, while Fizbo and the Ulund Sage ready the heals for Gottem. With Scavenger he gets stronger as the battle goes, and each healer gives him >10 HP back each time they go. It's beautiful to see.

Tofu and a Flanking Mantaroth
I think Gottem is going to get along great with Mantaroth in Tofu rulesets, especially with Fizbo sitting behind Mantaroth to provide the Deflection Shroud and healing for Gottem. Despite a bunch of annoying misses and some other RNG not going my way, there was simply no way for them to punch through Gottem in this one.

Nid and a Flanking Heloise
This...didn't work. But it was fun! The concept was that since there was no armor I wanted Heloise, and I greedily looked over at Nid to give Heloise Blast. It actually almost worked, and Gottem did a good job as the tank as well as by giving Inspire to Heloise to increase her damage output.

Big boys
In this Wild battle, I got to play for 99 mana with Dragon, so I went full "Big Boy" with my lineup. With Kitty at the helm, Gottem simply won't go down.

Just too much health (Gold battle)
Here's a showcase of a Gold league battle (for a tournament) where Gottem's health is once again on display, as the opposing team simply can't get through in time before the backline does its damage.

Beast of a card. I feel it is more useful once we have him on level 3. too bad I only have 1 bcx 😅
He's useful at 1 BCX too with all that health 😅
That's true. I have to use him more often to see how a level 1 does.
Wow, what a beast Gottem is. On the heal battle, I was thinking he would be healed for 10 HP total between the two healers. It's wild to see him getting 10 HP back in one heal! It will be interesting to see this guy combined with Calamity.
