Retiro terminal station is one of the most emblematic stations in the city of Buenos Aires including the platforms and the structure that make it up, I think it is ideal for black and white photography, a place where you can get images that are related to lines, symmetry and that combination of high and medium contrasts, as well as including the passengers.
La estación terminal Retiro es una de las estaciones más emblemáticas de la ciudad de Buenos Aires incluyendo los andenes y la estructura que la conforman, pienso que es ideal para la fotografía en blanco y negro, un lugar donde puedes obtener imágenes que tengan relación con líneas, simetría y esa combinación de altos y medianos contrastes, además de incluir a los pasajeros.
That big curved structure that allows the light to pass through and that due to its shape generates a kind of light squares on the floor is great to compose some images, I always imagine a photograph of reflections when I pass by this station, I hope to be able to do it one day.
Esa gran estructura curva que permite el paso de luz y que debido a su forma genera una especie de cuadros de luz en el piso es genial para componer algunas imágenes, siempre me imagino una fotografía de reflejos cuando paso por esta estación, espero poder hacerla alguna día.
Here you can appreciate much better what I mentioned about contrast and lines. This is a photo that I like a lot, the light coming in from that strip in the middle, the people going from one side to the other, the entrance and exit entrances in the form of arches and above these, three windows.
Acá se puede apreciar mucho mejor lo que menciono del contraste y las líneas. Ésta es una foto que me gusta mucho, la entrada de luz de esa franja en el medio, las personas yendo de un lado a otro, los accesos de entrada y salida con forma de arcos y arriba de estas, tres ventanas.
I took pictures of some people while they were walking and another of a passenger waiting for his train to call and then board it.
Here you can also see one of the screens indicating which branch this train is travelling on, it was just after 1 pm and the platform I was walking on was number 5, bound for J.L. Suárez.
Tomé fotos de algunas personas mientras caminaban o otra de un pasajero mientras espera la llamada de su tren para posteriormente abordarlo.
Acá se puede observar además una de las pantallas que indican cuál es el ramal por dónde viaja este tren, era poco más de la 1 pm y el andén por dónde caminaba era el número 5, con destino a J.L. Suárez.
Those cubicles or booths you see there are fast food stands, you can find them in every train station in the city including the underground.
Esos cubículos o stands que se ven allí son de venta de comida rápida, hay de estos en todas las estaciones de tren de la ciudad incluyendo el subterráneo.
The train arrived at the terminal and the passenger could board to start his journey.
El tren llegó a la terminal y ya el pasajero podía abordar para empezar su recorrido.
I hope to be able to visit again this and other stations and in those visits to be able to take other kind of photographs with more time and dedication. I hope you enjoyed this series.
