Before now, Feyi was a die-hard fan of a particular radio station, and she had a favourite on-air personality she admired so much; she speaks so much like Kayla the radio guru, a lively host on the "good morning show on Cool FM, 96.9".
"Mom, watch me while I do my thing," she would persuade her mom to sit in the living room and listen to her. As she held onto the remote control as her imaginary microphone, she placed her headset and began to move her hands on the table like a DJ does in a studio and began speaking like Kayla. Feyi was so eloquent and couldn't wait to finish high school so that she could gain admission into the university to study mass communication.
It was her ritual to listen to her radio every weekend, and as soon as she tuned in to her favourite radio station, the soothing voice of Kayla made her wear the wildest smile ever. "Today is an extraordinary day for the fans of Cool FM. If you can answer five questions correctly, you stand a chance to win a VIP ticket to the studio for the celebration of our 16th anniversary. The numbers to call are 01234969..012.. Let the phone line start buzzing!"
As soon as she heard that, she ran straight into her mom's room and said, "Mom, can I use your cellphone, please?" She politely requested, "What for, darling?" Her mom responded immediately as she noticed the urgency: "I want to call Kayla on the show." She was so confident that whatever question was posed, she would answer correctly, as she was an ardent listener of the show. Without any further hesitation, her mom handed her the phone. "Here, baby, I wish you the best".
After a few minutes of trying the busy phone line, her call went through, and in no time Kayla was on the phone. "Hello, welcome to 96.9; what's your name, darling?"
Feyi took a deep breath. "I am Feyi, your die-hard fan, Miss Kayla. I love you so much!"
"Thanks, baby, so are you ready to answer the questions on the show?" Kayla further asked, "Yes, that's why I called."
"Okay, mention three shows hosted on the station; mention three hosts for each show; where Cool FM is located; and when Cool FM is celebrating her 16th anniversary."
In a twinkle of an eye, Feyi answered the question and wowed Kayla. " wow!! This is the most brilliant answer ever; you answered within seconds, and hey baby, you just got an invite to our station on the 3rd of December. Come with your favorite person in the world and let's have fun."
Feyi couldn't contain her joy as she jumped from this end of the room to the other end. "Mom, you're my favourite person, so you're coming with me."
As soon as she got to school the next Monday, she told her classmates and teachers to listen to her on the 3rd of December, as she would be live on the radio.
The D-day arrived, and Feyi was all dressed up in her glory with her mom and made her way down to the station. Her dreams of becoming an on-air personality came true even if it was just for a day until she eventually furthered her education to become a professional host.
At least, She had the privilege of meeting her favourite on-air personality and even hosted the show alongside Kayla, her favourite on-air personality for a day, the imaginary studio, remote control and headset became a reality on the 3rd Of December and that fueled her passion to read hard and chase her dreams of becoming an On air personality.
