My father is known as a discipline man, he doesn't tolerate any bad behavior and he doesn't have time for any house chores because he is among men who believe that chores should be left for only the women of the house.
One day there came a change that we never imagined,
Away with the fairies brought joy to the family.
When we were growing up we knew that my father will never pick up pin from the floor, infact at some point we started getting upset over his behavior towards us his family members, he doesn't even care how we feel and the next thing to happen, infact i can say he was totally selfish.
At some point my mom started feeling bad over my dad conduct, to worse it all he started giving us a stonewalling attitude, he gradually withdraw his communication from everyone, because he knew that when there is no communication or less communication no one will have the opportunity to complain.
Gradually we all lost our joy, the family communication was so strained that we all enjoyed staying out than in our own home, it was just a life of eat and go to your room, the unfortunate aspect was that there is no smart phone to keep us busy.
My mother suffered emotional distress because she had no one and she sometimes was left without option than to cry, even when there was problems in the family it became a no no to collaborate and find solutions to the problem.
One day my aunt visited, and she never visited for a very long time so she was so excited not knowing that such excitement is not welcomed in our moody home hahahahah, just in 24hrs she came to realize that there was no smooth communication in the family, so she decided to see if she can talk senses to my father.
Even we the children were tired of the way things were going, but there is little or nothing we can do.
When my aunt was discussing with my father we thought that things would change unfortunately my father twisted everything, saying we reported him to our aunt.
"I am the man of this house and i will do as i want" he screamed.
So it was like all hope was lost so we continued our life.
A surprising change.
As usual we eat and was about to go to our room when we heard someone say "Any ludo board in this house" and it was my father speaking, surprisingly and confused my mom said "No sir there is non" my father replied "Ok" He stood up and went to his room.
We looked at each other and never comprehended what just happened, infact we thought maybe he wanted to seize the ludo board if there is any but there was non.
The next day my father came back home with a ludo board, immediately he walked in he asked for our native broom, we were just looking because we never understood why, that was quite different from the real him.
He sweeped everywhere and he asked for bathing water which has never happened for years.
The next day he bought paper wooth while coming home and that was still surprising to us, at this point we kept wondering "what happened and why the sudden change."
One even after meal he brought out the ludo board and asked everyone to take turns as we play the ludo together as a family, before then he did something we had never imagined, he cleared up the dining and washed off the plates , my mom was just like "Why is he acting wired?" This is not the real him, we kept wondering.
The next morning before we woke up he was doing laundry not just for himself but for the whole family, he now initiated a very lengthy conversation, he told us he will make dinner, which he eventually did in the evening and the whole family were happy tho stil wondering why the sudden change.
After a week, my aunt came around with our big uncle who was aged, and there and then we now know why the sudden change, my big uncle did the work.
My aunt went to my big uncle's house to report what she saw and my uncle ordered to see my father, so he went and uncle talked senses to him, he helped him to understand the big damage his bringing to his own family both physical and emotionally, and both our mother and we the children are facing it, so he helped him to see reasons to retract his step and make his home a sweet place to stay.
My father was busy cooking in the kitchen when my uncle and my aunt walk in and they saw the drastic change by themselves.
Your Dad really changed, to the extent of doing dishes, lol!. It must have been a spell 🫣

Communication is everything, sometimes when we spoil things by failing to communicate.

That is what families are all about.
If one withdraws, the others give him or her some time and space. But after a while, families find out what could be wrong.
