The only group of people that will love you unconditionally is your family. Yes, some can love you even when you are not biologically related; they might even love you more than your biological relations; trust me, these people can also be considered your family. Family is everything.

Wunmi was a young girl who stayed with her grandma from childhood, not because she couldn't stay with her parents but because she fell seriously sick while she was a baby her mother couldn't handle her so she decided to take her to grandma's house and after she got better, she refused to follow her mother back home. From that time, she started living with her grandma, though she still maintained a loving relationship with her siblings.

While Wunmi was in secondary school, she got pregnant by her secondary school lover, and everyone felt disappointed. One faithful day, Her aunty, who was Grandma's last daughter who lived with them, decided to get rid of the pregnancy, so she lied to Wunmi that she was taking her to the hospital to register for anti-natal. Wunmi got excited, and they left; on getting to the place, it wasn't a proper hospital. It was a small pharmacy. She was deceitfully given an injection. On getting home, she started bleeding and was taken to the hospital where she found out that the baby was gone. She cried for days, feeling very sad with her aunt. After some months, she got over it and moved on since Her aunt explained that she wanted her to be very ready before having kids and that she did it out of love for her.

After Wunmi's secondary school, She moved to her mom's place and lived with her immediate family for some years. After she moved to Her aunt's house to help her aunt take care of her son (Aunty got married while Wunmi was in secondary school and had a son after a while). While Wunmi was there, she went into cakes and decorations. She did brilliantly well and went further into her tertiary institution to study Economics. Now she was ready for marriage and to have a family of her own.

She met her lover immediately after she graduated from school; they courted for about a year, and they got married. The first year of her marriage was sweet when she finally got pregnant. Two months into the pregnancy, she had a miscarriage. It was a very sad experience for her because she felt alive again when she realized she was pregnant, but after losing it, She became very sad. She did everything she could to get pregnant again but she couldn't. She didn't give up; all her attention and time were focused on getting pregnant.

Three years into the marriage, she became sick. While she was sick, she would call her mom and siblings to complain about her husband's infidelity and the way her husband's family treats her now, since she couldn't conceive. Her husband has to bring his family members to come to live with them, and they begin to make life a living hell for Wunmi.

One day, Wunmi's younger sister (Anu) called to check up on her and she heard the way her sister sounded on the phone, she became concerned and asked her if all was well with her, but Wunmi burst into tears and said: "no I'm very sick and my husband doesn't even care for me anymore and I feel very weak". Anu ran home immediately she finished her conversation with her sister and told her mom. Mom called Wunmi and said, "I'm booking a ride for you right now; get in there and come home; let me take care of you." Wunmi arrived at her mom's house very sick but she could walk a little.

She was treated by a family doctor who ran some tests and discovered she had typhoid and malaria. She became better after the treatment. Three days later, she started urinating black color urine like blood. She was quickly rushed to the hospital and was admitted for five days. While in the hospital she kept telling the doctors to carry out a pregnancy test on her that she might be pregnant. A series of tests were carried out, but she wasn't pregnant. She was discharged after five days as soon as she became better.

At this point, Anu quit her job just to stay with her sister since mom was not that strong to do so. A few days after she got discharged, she started peeing blood again. This time, she was taken to a government hospital where there were specialists who could probably understand what was wrong with her. Her liver started failing; she didn't see her period all through this period. She also asked for a pregnancy test to be done, which was done, but she still wasn't pregnant, so she became sad. She was treated for a month in the hospital, but her case became so severe that she asked to be discharged. She was discharged against medical advice.

On getting home, she started again, and this time it was worse; her face and feet started swelling, she couldn't work, and she wasn't even talking properly. One night, she pooed on herself in the living room; Anu became so angry that she yelled at her out of frustration. The next morning, as early as 5am, she woke Anu up and said," Sorry for everything I put you through these past few days, and thank you for taking care of me." She became very quiet after this. Anu said, "No problem, but why are you awake at this time?" she didn't get any response and decided to switch on the light to check on her, only to find her dead.

Anu felt sad; with hindsight, she should never have yelled at her sister. For months, Anu was feeling depressed because she felt if she had known that those were Wunmi's last days, she would have done things differently to make a last memory with her.

Ouch! I'm teary already. 🥹🥹That's a wonderful and heart touching story there.

Hello, I really like how you highlight the importance of family and how we can overcome life's difficulties.

So a touching story, Anu will regret this all her life but she really tried as a sister.

Chai... This is touching

Oh no this is so sad, we can never tell how people are exactly feeling, we need to be kind always. But Anu still tried to care for her. She only just got frustrated.

Yes ...indeed

This is so touching
We never know what people are truly going through unless they let us know

True ..but sometimes it might be too late
