A Wish Comes True
Greater are those who believe in what they wished for without backing out.
Samuel was a little boy who always believed what his parents said. He can never jump over his parents' words. His parents always gave him whatever he wanted and whatever he wished for. This was because he was their only child. Samuel enjoys all the sweet aroma of love from his parents, but one thing is for sure, they always scolded him to work hard and to read to attain greatness.
He was just 10 years old when the rosy side of his life became sour. His parents were on their way to get him some clothes and books since he was getting ready for school as it was the beginning of the first term in the next class when they were involved in a fatal accident. They could not live to see their only child progress.
When Samuel got the news, he initially fainted after which it came just like a dream to him, he saw his parents sitting next to each other and his mother leaning her head on his father's shoulder telling him not to weep but to remain strong. They told him to work so hard to achieve his goal so that they would rest well. They said to him that they would not be at rest if his dream was not completed. He woke up immediately.
He was now living with his uncle who also gave him the same love which his parents have for him.
After fifteen years, he was about to write a scholarship exam since he was seen as one of the best in his class. He had heard that when someone makes a wish in his or her parent's grave, such a person would be successful no matter what. Meanwhile, his parents who came in the form of spirit had told him when he fainted to always visit their graves whenever he is about to take a difficult step. They told him to make any form of a wish and it shall be granted.
Samuel went to his parent's graves to make a wish. He wished to come out the best in his scholarship exam. He cried bitterly trying to meditate to the fullest. He was in the realm of meditating and immediately something like air passed him. It became cold and he was very cold yet he was still in the state of meditating without giving up since his wish must be achieved. So, it was just as if something went into his body and he was truly cold and started seeing himself on top. He was seeing himself as the best out of the best, this made him smile and immediately he opened his eyes and the cold disappeared.
It was time for the scholarship exam and he was ready as well as others. Maro has been her strong opposition. The two have been rotating the best position in their class. Maro was on his way to the canteen just to take her lunch where he came across this bone which she had heard of through her mum. According to her, this bone can give you all your answers to what you are looking for when two people break it apart.
She just wanted to make sure to know if she would be the one coming out victorious in the scholarship and so she called Samuel to hold the bone with her. Samuel being an obedient boy did not resist since he did not know what it means to break the bone. Maro told him that it was a game and anyone with the longer part should make a wish. These two held the bone side by side and broke the bone where Samuel was holding the longest bone. Maro's face became pale just like someone who has lost a game.
Maro then told Samuel to make a wish while she listened to what he had to say. Samuel then said loudly that "mum, dad!!! I wish the two of you are here to see my success. My wish is for you two to help me to win this scholarship".
When Maro heard this statement, she became angry and left him behind. Then, they went for the exams and indeed his wish came to pass. He made it through and was victorious. He was the best out of all that went for the exams. He was so happy and after getting home, he immediately went to his parent's grave to tell them about his success.
"This is your impact on me. Now my wish has been fulfilled. I have made you two proud, right? I will still keep on with more successes and will not relent."
The next week, Maro congratulated Samuel and they became best of friends. She dumped her grudge and focused on being true friends with Samuel. She told Samuel how she was angry when she saw him coming out as the best. They both laughed and laughed it out.
You gave a beautiful story about how wishes come true if we put in our best to make them happen. Samuel's parents are dead they still inspired him even in his dream and they will definitely be proud of him wherever their spirits are.
Yes..... This is why sometimes we need to work so hard to make our parents dream on us come true.

This is a very heartwarming story, @cool08. The connection that Samuel has with his parents transcends their earthly existence, and he takes strength from the sense he has they they are still looking after him in the spirit world. You handled that aspect of the story very well, and even the mystical part of the story seems believable.

I enjoyed your story, @cool08. Something great happens for Samuel out of a tragic loss. I liked the intense and slightly eerie scene where he speaks to his parents while meditating and then the cold feeling comes over him. Another part of the story I really liked was how in the end Maro lets go of her grudge and decides to support Samuel instead. You could easily have ended the story after the Samuel succeeds, but I'm glad you didn't. That was a really nice addition to the story!

Quite an interesting story....this captivates my mind and I was expecting victory at the end.
At Las! I read it and his wishes came in to fruition....his parents were really backing him up throughout in the other world. I'm glad he was successful in his pursuit of his career.
