Sometimes tough times bring out great things out of us. Delay is not denial, I believe that you not getting the big jobs you applied for was for a reason and that reason was to affect lives.. if you had gotten the job, you probably wouldn't have had time to explore that area and who knows you wouldn't have discovered this gift...
