Sand or skin
confounds me
desert skin or elephant sand
until I see your sad little eyes
lost in the vastness of your body
I read in them the sensitivity that you don't seem
the struggle you put up every day
the instinct of self-preservation
the pain.
The pain.
of the wilted skin of the desert
the rain that doesn't come
day after day... the wait
the cracks that claim to fill the grooves
thirst quencher
thirst for justice
that your drums sing so much.
Wounded Africa.
Arena o piel
me confunde
piel de desierto o arena de elefante
hasta que veo tus pequeños ojos tristes
perdidos en la inmensidad de tu cuerpo
en ellos leo la sensibilidad que no aparentas
la lucha que libras cada día
el instinto de conservación
la pena.
La pena
de la piel marchita del desierto
la lluvia que no llega
un día tras otro... la espera
las grietas que claman llenar los surcos
para calmar la sed
sed de justicia
que tanto cantan tus tambores.
Africa herida.
