Wonderfully written @restcity! I love the descriptions you give as we feel a growing weight on each of their minds. A distance builds between two nervous friends, and the certainty of their actions. If you wait for the perfect time to act, you may never act at all- good thing that elderly gentleman was there to give a helpful nudge :)
From the beginning of the story, I also can't believe she said yes! I was certain that her feelings weren't romantic, but it goes to show how complex emotions and circumstances are. Thank you for sharing your take on two awesome prompts!
