Thank you! And yes, that makes a lot of sense. To find the balance between foreign and familiar, presenting the one along with the other so that the reader 'gets a real sense' of the more fantastical elements of the world that's being described.

With how you explained this, I recognise it is what fantasy writers do all the time, whether in Harry Potter or Game of Thrones. And the bar scene is a very good example :). It's a great eye opener! Definitely looking forward to any other content you have to share on the world building topic!

I'm glad you found it helpful. Thank you for the inspiration for a future tips post. I've added it to my list!

Just wanted to let you know :). The story I posted two days ago was a zombie story, inspired by @snook's writing contest. It was a great setting to try out your tip of balancing mystery and the mundane. I had so much fun writing a zombie story (The Lady in Latex), which I never expected I would, lol, so credit to @snook for that. But if the context and setting worked out, then it's definitely because your writing tip really helped me along!

I just read your comment, @amritadeva. Sorry, I forget to go back and check for comments on older posts. That's wonderful! I'm so glad the tips inspire you!
