Driving to the hospital that fateful morning seemed like a huge task for Nneka. Scenes of yesterday kept flashing through her mind as she drove through the beautiful city of Enugu, but what can she do?
This and more she kept pondering about as she drove that morning.
Mere looking at her one could easily tell that the once beauty queen was in great agony and worry.

Over the years her mama has really made life so unbearable for her. Who would she cry too?

Yesterday, mama had seized the opportunity once again to inflict more pain and insult on her when she went to serve her dinner.

I don't eat from a barren woman's pot, mama had sharply replied to her.. Keep your food to yourself.

Nneka, when would you give me a grandchild?
Did i do a bad thing to marrying you into this family. Look at all your mates who already have children. Why have you decided to be this wicked to me?..

I only blame my son, who has refused to take a second wife for a long time. I don't even know what he still sees in a woman like you.

This and more, Nneka had been enduring for almost twelve years now. Who would have even thought that her marriage to the love of her life Chief Desmond would turn out this way.
I mean it was the best wedding in town, people from almost all parts of the country were there to witness the union between the two families.

However, day's turned into weeks as weeks turned into years and yet there was no single cry of a baby in their household.

This was how her plight actually began.
Mama who was once Nneka's favorite person in the whole world quickly turned against her, she became vile and hateful towards Nneka. In fact Mama became so antagonistic towards Nneka that it almost made her mad.

Nneka and her husband had visited almost all the hospitals in the city and nothing was found to be wrong between the two of them. In fact the doctors had encouraged Nneka to be hopeful and put all her trust in God.
The burden and shame was just too much that she couldn't bear it anymore.

There were nights when she would wet her pillows in tears questioning her existence. In fact she lived in perpetual worry.

Her husband was not even left out as there has been intense pressure on him to take another wife. But he had always insisted he loved his wife and that he believed in God's time.

On getting to the hospital that morning, the only thing really on Nneka's mind was how to meet up with the doctor and get treatment for what she thought was a slight illness.
However after the test, the doctor announced to Nneka that she was two weeks pregnant. She couldn't believe what the doctor just said as she began to sob uncontrollably, indeed God has answered her prayers when she least expected it.

Nine months later Nneka gave birth to a set of twins, a boy and a girl.
And just like that her joy was restored, as she had no cause to worry no more.

The end.

I enjoyed your story. Nneka's husband believed in her which was a good thing and the birth of the twins brought joy to the family.

It really ended in happiness.

Oh! Really happy for Nneka as she could called herself a mom, really" children's are the only happiest thing in any home, I hope her mother in-law was happy now, that Nneka could give her grand children's.

Well she has no option than be happy. Thanks for reading.
