Laila and Juliette are two sisters with a very good relationship with each other. Laila is 14 years old and Juliette is 10 years old. They both attend Wycombe Abbey School and are well liked by their classmates. At home they are excellent daughters, share some chores, and help each other with their homework.

They were barely six months old when they moved into their new house, a little bigger than their old one and far from the hustle and bustle of the city. It was not very difficult for both of them to adapt to their new small town life. The days went by like almost all of them, except for one or another new eventuality, otherwise, routine accompanied them, but they were happy. The night, though, was not very pleasant for the youngest of the sisters, as she is very skittish and still not used to the idea of having to sleep alone in such a large room. It was no wonder that most of the time, she would wake up cuddled in bed with Laila, after sneaking in quietly, and always her words were the same.

I don't like what lives in my closet. Every night it scares me and keeps me awake-.

However, Laila and her mother tried to dissuade her, explaining that none of that existed, that it was just her imagination, that she was already grown up and that she should learn to sleep alone in her new room.

One night, mom and dad were preparing dinner, and the girls were tidying up the table, when Juliette said to her sister.

What lives in my closet gets angry when I see it. Every night it asks me to turn off the light of my lamp and then go out, and it stays next to me. I can't make it out well because it's dark, sometimes it leaves quickly, sometimes it stays for a long time and doesn't let me sleep, and sometimes I get scared and prefer to cover my face-.

Laila must have reflected an immense terror on her face, her mother was quick to notice it from the kitchen.

What's wrong?- she asked.

Nothing, mom, everything is fine- was all Laila said.

She didn't want to alarm anyone, first she had to make sure of what her little sister was telling her.

Juliette, why didn't you go to my room when that happened?- asks Laila in a very low voice.

At first it didn't come out of my closet, and I had time to stand up and run to your bed, but now it does, and I'm afraid I'll get too close and hurt myself- she replied nervously.

Laila can't get over her astonishment and tries to find a logical reason for everything.

She must be dreaming, or maybe she's sleepwalking, or some doll, or a stuffed animal, what do I know- mused the girl.

Any excuse was valid, as long as I could avoid thinking that there was even a shred of truth in what I had just heard.

After dinner, the family gathers for a while in the living room to talk. After a few hours they get ready for bed.

If you want to come to my bed- Laila warns her sister.

Ok- replies Juliette.

Laila prepares the bed and tries to make the side where Juliette will sleep comfortable. She lies down on the bed, turns off the light, and waits for her. Soon the girl arrives and settles in.

See you tomorrow- she whispers.

A little more than half an hour passed and the girls were already asleep. Suddenly, Laila is awakened by her sister's frightened voice.

Laila, can I stay with you tonight?- says Juliette sobbing from the bedroom door.

Laila, frozen, sees her little sister standing in the doorway. Summoning up a lot of courage, she turns around to see who is sleeping on the other side of her bed. She feels her heartbeat accelerate to such an extent that she thinks it is going to burst out of her chest. In an attempt to scream, it places a terrifying, gigantic hand over his mouth. Nothing more was known. The only thing I can assure you is that there is something that dwells in every closet and is just waiting for the right night to add one more innocent to the long list of its victims.

I advise you: Close your closet door tightly before going to sleep. And if you sleep alone, and you feel that someone is lying next to you, do not turn over for anything in the world.

Oh boy... Shiver me whiskers😱😱😱 (or something like that)
Now i'm gonna be scared of my closets. Gotta get em a new set of locks😏
There is nothing more frightening than the idea that those things we were scared of as children and then taught that they were unreal, are actually very real. And not just in the closets or under the bed.
But right beside us.
You really do justice to the story, straight to the point. And scary as 😱
Good job @mayellig, keep it up dear friend.
