Johnny Fray was a leading scientist, a chemist to be exact. He was a man marked by ambition. Since childhood, he had dreamed of changing the world through science.
He wanted to alter the genetics of the human body to make it more efficient. After countless failures and sleepless nights, he created a serum that promised to elevate humanity to a new level: enhancing the physical capabilities of an average man beyond known limits. To see the results of his experiment, he needed to test it on humans. However, he knew that testing it on others was an unacceptable risk; it was unethical to take such chances.
So the doctor made a bold and dangerous decision: he would be his own first test subject. He was very confident that his creation would be a success, which is why Dr. Fray had to use his own body as a guinea pig.
The moment of the injection was electrifying; the needle pierced his skin and, almost instantly, he felt the burning sensation coursing through his veins, spreading to his chest, his heart raced until it thumped like a drum, his senses became acute, and he could hear his own heartbeat.
The doctor processed those effects, but he did not expect to experience a sudden heart attack... Before collapsing on the floor, he called for emergency help.
Soon after, he suffered a heart attack; before losing consciousness, he managed to call emergency services. To his surprise, recovering was just the beginning of an extraordinary transformation.
When he was discharged from the hospital, Johnny began to notice the great changes in his body; he had become stronger, faster, and more resilient—much more than he could have imagined. His muscles grew tremendously as they were subjected to exercise; he could lift tons with ease.
His bones were as solid as steel, almost indestructible against heavy blows and great falls. With developed senses, his reflexes were comparable to those of a fly; he could move his body with exceptional speed, almost like a cheetah.
Dr. Fray had succeeded; he had achieved the next step for the human race.
One day, after performing feats that surpassed everything he could have imagined, he looked at his own image in the mirror, but instead of a man, he saw a being that considered itself superior to all others.
The doctor had fulfilled his goal, but it was time to make a decision that would define his future choices.
Should he share his invention with the privileged few or give that gift to everyone without exception...
At that moment, fearing the worst, the doctor felt anxious about the latent potential of his experiment, so he decided to examine himself during a trial period to analyze the possible side effects.
As months passed, Johnny was consumed by the overwhelming potential of the power coursing through his veins. His experiment showed no harmful side effects on his physique; however, the doctor's pride grew until it became egotistical. He was a superman at his peak, believing himself superior to all forms of life on the planet, and his good judgment began to cloud due to his high self-esteem.
The idea of sharing his greatest success felt like a great offense to him; his greatness could have no parallel. Dr. Fray was trapped in a spiral of conflicts; he couldn't be selfish, as he was acting for the good of humanity.
If he couldn't trust his reasoning, then he could only place his trust in the opinion of his loved ones.
His friend Chad, his closest confidant since kindergarten, advised him to take advantage of the gifts he possessed:
—"You can do whatever you set your mind to"— he said, —"It would be amazing for us both to enjoy such wonders"— he said, coveting the power, envy unmistakable.
His friend's words gave him a bad feeling; there was only one other person he could speak openly with about his dilemma: his mother. The next day he visited her; she was a very wise and experienced woman, who simply advised him: —"Care for the people"—
After promising his mother that he would decide what was best to do, Dr. Fry decided to take a long journey around the world to find an answer...
Traveling to places where the suffering of humanity was palpable. From favelas in Brazil to villages devastated by war, those places offered him an unprecedented perspective. He realized that the true value of power did not lie in the abilities themselves, but in using them to inspire and protect those who had no choice.
For months he explored various cultures and faced the greatest human injustices. Every story of suffering and heroism he heard fueled his desire to do something about it.
In the end, after much contemplation on the common good, he decided that he could not grant his power to others. Corruption and human weakness were dangerous, and the last thing he wanted was to see someone else succumb to the same arrogance that had begun to consume him from within. Instead, he decided to become what the world needed: a protector.
To combat the evils of the world, Dr. Johnny Fray decided to become a vigilante for the innocent and the unfortunate.
He chose a new name: "The Mighty" to be a beacon in a world full of shadows; he was determined to be a supermen who looked out for the good of others.
Every night, he would watch over his city from above, ready to act, knowing that his role was not that of a god, but that of a protector.

Mmm, why do superheroes always emerge from scientific experiments 😂.
Nicely written bro 👏
I really liked how the scientist used his great discovery to selflessly help others, not succumbing to ambition and self-centeredness. A very enjoyable story to read.
