Ink Well Fiction Prompt 110 - Mount Kelud Climbing Tragedy

This afternoon the sky was dark, the wind was blowing hard, and suddenly there was a booming sound from the sky, "Duaar!", it was the sound of thunder that could be heard throughout the city. The sound was like a volcanic explosion. The rain came down in torrents.

"How's it going, Anton? Are we going camping?" asked Susi, who was lethargic because she was afraid her camping trip would be canceled.

"We'll wait until the rain stops" replied Anton.

The heavy rain and strong winds made the air even colder. Anton and Susi lit cigarettes and sipped their hot coffee at the table. They hoped the rain would stop soon so they could go camping on Mount Kelud. They had prepared everything. Two hours passed, and the rain stopped. Finally, they were going to go camping.

"What about Supardi and Lisa? Do we have to pick them up?" asked Anton.

"I'll call Lisa, maybe they're on their way here" Susi replied.

Just as she was about to call Lisa, a car horn sounded from Anton's porch. It was Supardi and Lisa.

"Hey, sorry we're late because the intersection is flooding and the road is jammed," Supardi said.

"It's okay, anyway we're both also waiting for the rain to stop here" Susi replied.

"Let's put our stuff in the car, we're leaving now," Lisa said.

They loaded their camping gear into Supardi's car and set off for the foothills of Mount Kelud. On the way, they joked and laughed and sang loudly. As the car was moving, the brake pedal was pressed spontaneously. All the passengers were thrown forward. But they all survived.

"What's wrong?" asked Susi.

"Why did you hit the brakes suddenly like this?" Anton continued to ask.

"Just now, I saw someone with a big body crossing the road very fast!" Supardi replied.

"Are you hallucinating?" asked Lisa.

"No, I'm sure he ran towards the corn sometimes" Supardi replied.

"Never mind, let's continue our journey. Soon we will arrive" said Lisa.

They continued their journey. 30 minutes later, they arrived at the foot of Mount Kelud. After getting all their belongings out of the car, they started the hike together. Camping at the top of Mount Kelud is every climber's dream. Seeing the sunrise at the top of the mountain with a beautiful natural atmosphere is a favorite for those who like to camp.

While on the climb, Lisa had to pee, so she asked them to wait for a while. Lisa went to a big tree and urinated behind the tree. Susi, Anton, and Supardi waited for Lisa while sitting on a rock. When Anton wanted to burn his cigarette, Lisa's voice suddenly sounded very loud.

"Aaaaa!!!"

Supardi immediately ran to the big tree to see what had happened to Lisa. Anton and Susi followed him. But after they arrived, they didn't see anyone, not even Lisa. They were confused and scared. I don't know what happened to Lisa when she disappeared.

"Look, footprints are leading into the forest," said Anton.

"Could Lisa have been kidnapped?" asked Susi.

"But, these footprints are strange, like they're not human footprints," said Supardi.

"Yes, that's right, we should follow these footprints so we know where Lisa went" Anton replied.

With a little fear, the three of them followed the footprints into the forest. Until finally, they found a wooden house that was very rundown. With trembling feet and hands, Supriadi tried to find the courage to enter the house. Just as he was about to step inside, Lisa's voice was heard again.

"Don't go inside!" Lisa shouted.

Those who heard Lisa's voice from inside the wooden house ran in to save Lisa. Inside the wooden house, Lisa was sitting in a chair with her hands tied with wire. When they tried to open the wire binding Lisa, they were immediately surrounded by five burly and long-haired creatures. It was the Manthe tribe, forest-dwelling creatures on Mount Kelud who often kidnap hikers for sacrifice.

The trembling Supardi tried to fight his fear. He took a knife from his pants pocket and attacked one of the Manthe tribe. But the burly creature was so good at fighting, in one blow, Supardi fell to the floor in pain. Seeing this, Anton also attacked the creature that knocked Supardi to the floor. But unfortunately, Anton was not fast enough. The creature immediately choked Anton's neck firmly and made Anton faint.

"I told you not to come in here!" Lisa shouted in tears.

Susi was so frightened to see the burly creature that she cried next to Lisa. They were all tied up and taken to the Manthe tribe village. The footprints leading to the wooden house were a trap to get them all caught by the Manthe tribe. From then on, the four of them were declared missing and could not be found again.

Wow, what a story; if I were there, I would have suggested we go back after seeing the creature. but they wanted to explore

Because they are curious and don't believe in myths. Thank you very much for visiting and commenting

Oh my... what a fateful day for them. I kinda hope they were taken as prisoners and not used as sacrifice :)

This is beautifully-written Raden. It made me imagine the burly creatures you mentioned😉

Some indigenous peoples believe in the existence of forest-dwelling mythological creatures. Thank you for visiting @ifarmgirl-leo 😁😁

Well, we can't blame them because even movies show something like that, lol!

Cheers and it's my pleasure :)

A true tragedy.
No one would know exactly what happened to them and it's tragic.

Yes Miss, it is a tragic tragedy. Thank you very much Miss

This is a very imaginative story, @radenkusumo666. A tragic ending, though! That camping trip was not meant to be. Our apologies for missing this story when you first posted it.

Yes sir, it's okay. I already knew that. Thank you.
