As the wind flap the curtains one Monday morning, Ella was still on bed , not knowing it was already morning. Dayo her friend came to the room standing beside Ella's bed and tap her gently.
" Madam is morning already, or is your presentation not by nine AM and this is five minutes past eight".
She quickly startled and ran out of bed. " How did i manage to sleep off till this time?.
As she was moving straight to the bathroom, forgetting to her towel behind.
Dayo replied"maybe because you like to work yourself without knowing there's time to rest"
"Dayo you know i have a presentation and also i am working towards the promotion towards the position of the general manager , all i want is for the CEO to recognize my effort .Oh cheese i left my towel in the wardrobe, please help me with it thank you. Immediately i get that position my work load will be reduced"
Dayo chuckled. As she picked up the towel give it Ella in the bathroom.
"I will be at the dinning setting up the table" Dayo said .
Within some minutes Ella ran out of the bedroom, with her shoes on her hands.
"Dayo I will not be taking breakfast this morning I'm late already i have to go".
Before Dayo could say a word she has already ran out of the sitting room with the car key. She smiled and said "drama queen" she shook her head.
Ella get to the office premises looking disorganized and nervous, not until she met one of her team member who brought to her notice that the meeting will be thirty minutes late from the actual time.
Ella took a deep breath and went straight to her office took some coffee to prepare her of the meeting ahead.
Ella nervously clicked the "Join Meeting" button, hoping she had the right link and password. She had a big presentation to give to the marketing team, and she wanted to make a good impression.
As she settled into her virtual chair, she gave a friendly hello to her colleagues. But to her surprise, no one responded. She tried again, this time a bit louder, "Hello? Can everyone hear me?"
Still, there was silence.
Ella'smind began to panic. She checked her audio settings, wondering if she had somehow accidentally muted herself. That's when she saw it – the little icon indicating that she was indeed on mute.
"I thought I was on mute," she typed into the chat, feeling a mix of relief and embarrassment.
The team erupted into a chorus of laughs and supportive messages. "Don't worry, Ella! We've all been there!" one of her colleagues typed.
With a chuckle, Ella unmuted herself and began her presentation. Her nerves dissipated, replaced by a sense of camaraderie with her team. Despite the hiccup, the meeting went smoothly, and Ella nailed her presentation.
As the meeting concluded, Ella's team praised her for her professionalism and humor. "Kudos to you, you handled that like a pro!" someone said.
Ella smiled, feeling more confident for future virtual meetings. She realized that even technical glitches couldn't dampen her team's spirits or her own determination.
Ella was so excited about the her presentation how well it went, and the accolades given to her by her team members.
"I truly deserve all the accolades in the world for my hard work, spoiling myself this evening will not be a bad idea". She said as she drive home.
The Moment Ella entered the house she began to screen " i made it, i presented so perfectly well".
Dayo was sitting on the couch working from home using her laptop, immediately she drop the laptop on the table, and ran to her with a hug.
"I Know your effort can never be in vain, with all the sleepless nights, waooo! I am super excited and proud of you" Dayo said and smiled.
Dayo quickly put her laptop to sleep, and held Ella's arm they giggle as they work gently to the bedroom.
They both prepared for celebration outside the house, they went to a bush bar and spoiled their selves with bush meat and drinks.
"Dayo how did you get to know somewhere good as this, I really love their meat" Ella said as she devour the meat on her hand without been inconvenience by people's eyes.
Dayo mimics her " how will you know somewhere like this, when you are stucked with your office work. Learn to ease off stress by going out to catch fun"
"I've heard you thank you ma at least my hard work pays" Ella said while she was still devouring her, they both laughed.
From that day on, after the presentation at the office "I thought I was on mute" became an inside joke among the team, a reminder that even in the virtual world, laughter and connection can conquer any technical issue.
