The strongest part of your piece is its honesty. Readers can always tell if an author is being honest. The writing has more value. It's interesting to read how your handling of money has changed. It's not your attitude that has changed as much as your willingness to compromise with your husband's needs. You give us good insight into a marriage--any marriage.
