RE: Sweet Death

You write a story to which not everyone will be drawn. There are grotesque, even grisly elements that some readers may find off-putting.

A sort of romance with death that lasts a lifetime may actually be symbolic of how many people deal with their mortality. At a certain age--as children--people realize that they are locked in a kind of dance with death until it takes them, ultimately. There are close brushes, and there are bargains people silently make ("Let me live this time...I'll do this or that"). Your protagonist's relationship with death could be representative of a universal accommodation with the mortal state.

Thank you for posting your story in the Ink Well community.
