RE: THE BOY WHO BECAME KING UNDER THE FULL MOON

in The Ink Well2 years ago

This story follows the pattern of a myth-making narrative. The overlooked, abused, underrated character is discovered to have hidden qualities that allow the character to prevail over former enemies. This might be called the Cinderella syndrome, but is is a pattern that appears in stories across the centuries. For readers, this allows for a kind of wish fulfillment. They can identify with a hero who may be like them (abused, underrated) but who one day rises to great heights. You follow the form well.
