This is a lovely story, @graat. It shows Rita's transition from a fearful, distrusting person to one who is willing to take chances and meet her future head-on.
We do have some feedback for you. One thing to consider is integrating more action into a story like this. It is mostly "narrative" which means we don't "see" the action taking place. We have an article we recommend in our catalog of fiction writing tips, titled Action, Dialogue and Narrative: The Dynamic Trio, and another one describing the "show, don't tell" concept for fiction writers.
