This story conveys the excitement of a child's first experience. You carry the reader through the child's different hopes and disappointments as the train moves across the countryside. Most readers will relate to the freshness of the child's perspective, when all is new and wondrous. Describing the monkeys was an effective touch. That detail carried with it the sense of the exotic, which the child hoped for.
