The Ejima

The Igbo tribe from Nigeria refer to Twins as "EJIMA".

Being the older one these kids made me more of a parent than an elder brother.
I take that back...

They made me more of a referre than an elder brother.

This two fought for literally everything but the amazing thing about this was the fact, if you dare hit one of them, you are in big big trouble.

It's so crazy that I had to tell them to deal with their problems. Not so cool right?

Wait, till you are the one in my shoes then judge then.

I once bought a bottle of groundnut and hid it my room. Lilian and Julian discovered that I had hid a bottle of groundnut in my room and threatened to report to my mother.

My Mum won't hurt me though, She would just request for it the day she wants to drink garri and watch carefully if I would say No.

African mothers.
She will remind me that She and her husband were the ones who were paying for the roof over my head and all the food I've ever eaten since I came into this world.

Julian and Lilian's threat paid off, because I gave in.
They knew I had groundnut but didn't know how big it was.
So, as a stingy elder brother, I mistakenly gave Lilian five seeds and gave Julian four seeds.

The difference was just one but it must have meant a lot to Julian and He ran to the sitting room and told my Mum.

"Mummy, tell brother to give me five too, He gave Lilian five and gave me Four".

Lilian rushed in immediately;

"Mummy it's a lie, brother hid the groundnut and I caught Him that was why He gave me Five and gave you four".

I was just standing there wondering what I did to deserve all this. I couldn't believe just one seed of groundnut caused this two children to betray me.

I learnt my lesson that day.

The fact that they always fought and involved me in it was very (respectful).

That word "respectful" is in parenthesis because that was never the aim of bringing matters to me.

The reason they bring their fights to me, was to set me up to see who my favorite was.

They once had a heated argument like never before. I was even scared that they would hurt themselves, since I was in charge I interferred.

After listening to there reasons, I understood that Julian was at fault. I decided to discipline him. I hit his bum just a little bit and He shouted like I hit him with a stick.
His sister immediately jumped on me, "why did you hit my brother?"

They both started fighitng me.

They also forgot that I was their brother too.

Do you see why I always allowed them to live their life's. I'm not interfering again. Ever. Never. I won't try it.

Please don't even try to convince me.
Thank you.

The truth is that matter what happens, I would still defend my babies.

Lol, the bond between twins is such that other siblings would sometimes appear like outsiders 😅 you learnt the hard way

You should have found a balance and not given more seeds to Lilian and less to Julián. You should have given them both the same amount. Have a good night.

Twins do have a thing . Like a connection between them , you step on one the other one retaliates

Lol it is so funny, but little kids are like this sometimes. You learned the lesson the hard way, unfortunately.

This is just the everyday drama of siblings, they'll fight themselves everyday but once someone else joins in, you become the enemy. Children will calculate everything down to the last piece and once its not equal, trouble will start.
