Hey skaters, thought I'd introduce myself since I am brand new here on Hive. (and SkateHive)
I'm an old school "skater for life" who has been skating since I was 12. (now 57)
(Skating one of the first skateparks back in 1977 - Skatepark Montebello)
If this were prison, you could say I'm a "lifer". (Good thing it ain't prison - LOL!)
I grew up in Southern California, the epicenter of skateboarding during the "second wave" (between 1975 - 1981) before skateboarding "died" the second time.
We started out skating homemade ramps like these:
But as soon as we rode our first POOL...
That's all we wanted to do.
We looked for empty pools, ditches, banks, pipes, etc.
And we took lots of photos because back then, skateboarding was very underground and we wanted to remember all our adventures.
So, I have tons of old school photos to share with you and lots of stories that go with them.
Anyway, I'm 57 years young and a "Skater Por Vida".
Looking forward to being part of this community and contributing skate stories from an old dog.
BTW, I still love skating pools, at 57 years old!
