Pixação is a form of urban art that involves writing or scribbling on walls and surfaces, often using spray paint. It can be considered an act of vandalism or a form of protest and social expression.
The (pixação) is the most common and recognized form of the movement, associated with a specific style and structure, while the (graffiti) is the dictionary form for the act in general
Cultural manifestation: Pixação has historical roots, emerging in contexts of political protest, such as during the military dictatorship in Brazil, and may contain specific regional codes and formats.
Expression and protest: Pixação can be a form of protest against oppression, social inequality and the capitalist system, expressing indignation and lack of expectations.
Competition and challenge: There is a competitive aspect to Pixação, with practitioners seeking out harder-to-reach locations, such as the tops of buildings, to gain visibility and recognition
Aesthetics: Pixação is generally characterized by rectilinear letters and an aesthetic considered marginal and illegible by most, distinguishing it from graffiti, although the two share spaces and may be influenced by each other.
Techniques: Practitioners primarily use aerosol spray cans, but foam rollers can also be used to apply the paint.
Variations: Over time, Pixação has evolved through distinct phases. For example, one of them went from simply signing to seeking increasingly challenging locations and, later, to seeking media impact.
It all started in 1996. I was only 6 years old, but very curious. I was on a bus in downtown Rio de Janeiro, looking out the window at the writing on the buildings.
I asked my mother, like those written at the top. She said he was a very brave person to climb so high. It was always a word followed by a poetic or impactful phrase. One that I haven't forgotten since is the following phrase: 'Be useful to those who love you.'
I've always drawn since I was a child, I've always loved writing on walls, at the age of 14 in 2004 I was already skateboarding when I met a graffiti artist and I got closer and closer and got to know more and more about this culture that was already inside me and I didn't even know
Years passed and wherever I went I always left my Pixação (Seci~>>) it's what I write on the walls it's an abbreviation of the word Secionar or separating into sessions
I became one of the most watched pixador in Rio de Janeiro.
In 2014, I was invited to take over as leader of the Coletividade Family, seen on the streets as (©️)
a very strong Gang because it had several very good Pixadores and was created by some guys from the old days of the Pixação scene in Cabo Frio, on the coast of Rio de Janeiro.
I joined the Familia and was accepted by all the gang members, we had a barbecue to celebrate and gather all the pixadores artists to announce that I became the leader of the Familia Coletividade
The following year I went to live in the North Zone of Rio de Janeiro and made shirts for our gang members.
In the same year there was a Pixação event where our gang was recognized as the most watched in Rio de Janeiro
When I joined the Gang this was the formation each writing represents a member
