I'm sure we all enjoy playing gods unchained, but there's an interesting back story as to how it all began, which is what I want to share with us, it's a bit complex but I've tried to simplify it as much as I can. You can find the link to the original story below. Also this post helps to identify the various god's character and what they stand for. Enjoy 🍾
It is difficult to describe the gods, what’s even more difficult is describing their abode in the heavens.
You see statutes of them in their temples. The Virtous Thariel, Auros the vengeful, gentle Aeona the god of nature, Malisus the god of death,Ludia the god of deception and Elyrian. To their worshippers, the statutes are awe inspiring and beautiful.
But these statutes pale in comparison to these heavenly beings.
The citadel is the highest in all the realms. It was created by all the gods to be a neutral ground for meetings, discussions and resolutions. They could all converge there without worries of unnecessary destructions and distractions from their worshippers.
Seeing one god inspires fear and trembling. Seeing all six sitting together in the same hall for the first time in mortal memory is overwhelming.
Thariel, the god of light stands up to speak “our brother, the unstable one has returned at last”
All the other gods, his siblings, kept mute. Of course they know he has returned. He is standing right there in front of them after he disappeared centuries ago from the known world, abandoning his realm, worshippers and office as a god.
Elyrian is his name. The god of magic. He stares into the eyes of his siblings as they keep mute, perceiving things only he can.
Malisus the god of death speaks up, “I’m afraid of what will happen if I leave my realm for a year. I’m amazed at how your realm has kept going despite your disappearance for centuries”.
Elyrian quickly replies her “if it couldn’t survive without me, I would not have left”. Auros speaks angrily and says “welcome back brother! But is this the reason you gathered the six gods at the citadel? To tell us something we already can see with our own eyes?
Thariel replies “his return is worth the celebration but that’s not the only reason we are here”. An explanation would be nice right now, says Aeona. Where have you been all this while, Elyrian?
The sixth god, Ludia, supports Aeona and demands an explanation from Elyrian for his disappearance.
All the gods start talking at the same time, asking several questions and creating chaos with words. Elyrian raises and waved his hands and everyone falls quiet in expectation of his explanations.
Why is there so much drama in here he asks? The gods move in their seat and Thariel speaks saying “they’re not in the mood for soft pleasantries brother, tell them!”
Elyrian has always been the black sheep, always asking questions the other gods were comfortable to ignore. Questioning their realities, origin and their place in the larger scheme of things. He has always believed that the world is much larger that the nine realms which was their known world. He had a hunch that there was much more out there and he was willing to abandon his realm in search for answers.
Aeona, responds to Elyrian, “there’s nothing beyond the cosmos, I have always know that this obsession will drive you astray”.
Elyrian ignores her comment and continues to speak. The facts are there for all to see that what I’m saying is correct. There’s much more out there than our cosmos. There’s order beyond our realms. The sun and the arrangement of the stars prove that but there’s far more than that out there.
I have been studying them to learn more about our world and even our origin.
Thariel says “I told you they wouldn’t listen. They only care for temporal enjoyment and happiness”.
Ludia is gradually getting irritated and asks Did we come for a family reunion to study cosmology? Is this all you invited us here for?
No, Thariel says, let’s get to the business of the meeting.
Everyone sits up and pays rapt attention as they are eager to hear the other subject matter which seems to be the major reason they were invited.
What is it?asks Aeona
This is the grand arena thariel replies
Are we supposed to fight then? Asks Auros.
Thariel and Aeona both retort with a no! The last time was a mess, there will be no fighting this time atleast not among the gods.
This is why we are here! Thariel speaks!
There’s going to be a tournament here in the citadel of the gods. Each god will choose a mortal champion and give them a part of their powers.
Elyrian adds “this has happened before”.
And what if we refuse to participate asks Malisus.
You have a right to refuse says Thariel
And why are we using this arena asks Auros.
The grand arena exists simultaneously in this realm and in the realm of mortals and so both us and the mortals can be here live at the tournament.
You had no right to do that, to create a back door into the citadel! That’s unnatural! It is wrong! The other gods retorted.
Elyrian quickly moves to calm their fears and assured them it’s not a back door. It’s more like a deception, a mirror. Those in the mortal lands will think they’re here and the gods will experience it live at the citadel too.
Choose your champions or loose out!
Elyrian and Thariel walk out of the room leaving the other four gods to themselves.
Auros, Malisus and Aeona, went to a separate room and ganged up to find out the actual plans Elyrian and Thariel had for this tournament and decided to destroy it.
Luda, strots to Thariel and Elyrian in their private room and they make her take an oath not to do anything to jeopardize their plans. She agrees, on the condition that they will keep her in the loop.
Elyrian tells her of his discovery of the many gods that existed before they ever came to the cosmos and how a few men, women and children cry out in their sleep knowing something is wrong with the universe.
Ludia, removes her face masks and there’s no smile on her face this time.
Tell me everything she demands!
