I know a lot of people got into this game, but I never did. Is it over on ETH? I was always concerned about the gas fees I think.

    Yes it was initially on ETH and suffered with huge gas fees in the past. Now they have their own layer 2 token on immutable X, so there are some gas fees when you transfer to layer 2 (I paid over €5 to transfer just €50 over) but then on their layer 2 it is free transactions.
