A new Meta is coming!! What are your options for Deception now? [Part 1 feat. changed Core Cards] Core Set Refresh

Hey Guys!

Finally we will get new cards in a few hours!

I finished my last WE-Ranked with 13/25 with almost the same deck like last weekend, what I fnished with 17/25. CLICK if you are interested.

Because we'll get a huge change in the Meta it's not really worth to talk about my last weekend.

It's more important to prepare for the next weeks and a new meta.

Today I'll talk about the already existing Core cards for Deception. Also you'll get my first thoughts about the changes.

If you are already playing for a longer time you'll have most of these cards so usualy you can instant use them and start grinding for new Core cards.

Thalia, Charite Temptress ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The stats changed from 4/3 to 2/2 but the most important change is the text change!
The old text: "Roar: Pull any cards in your opponent's hand that cost 2 or less onto the bottom of their deck" was useless so Thalia was a useless Legendary. The new text "Roar: gain control of an enemy creature with sleep." can be a gamechanger! Deception have cards for 0-2 Mana to put an enemy to sleep. With the 2-Card-Combo you can steal the finisher from your opponent.

Lokian Disciple ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is another Legendary with a big change. Stats changed from 7 mana 6/8 to 4 mana 4/4 and Lokian Disciple is now a "Guild"-Creature.

The text also got a change from "Hidden. Flank. Whenever this creature attacks a god, a random enemy creature is put to sleep." to "Hidden. Characters damaged by this creature gain sleep."

Lokian and Thalia can make a good combo together but the damage on the enemy can be too high for using it for a few turns.

At least this card is now easier to play.

Solemn Lecturer ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Changed from a 4 Mana neutral 2/4 to a 4 Mana Deception 4/4 "Mystic" creature.

Sentient Amphora ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Changed from Neutral to Deception and now can attack

Blackguard⭐️

It was a neutral 8 Mana 12/10 Creature what gaves other freindly creatures +2 Health. (If they have Frontline Blackguard gave them +4 Health instead)

Now it's like a new card exclusive for Deception.

+2/+2 for every friendly creature with backline sounds good but Deception had only 4 Backline Creatures (Orfeo, The Hollow, Helm Hustler & Hooded Figure) and will get 1 new Backline creature. (Ronellan Streetslinker, Nether, 3 Mana 4/2 with Backline & Hidden.)
The Hollow and Helm Hustler have only abilities so they are just a little bit harder to remove after that +2/+2 buff. The ability will not change. And also most of the Neutral Backlines have only Abilities...

I don't think that we will see this card more often than in the past...

Cyclops Marksogre: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Previously "Cyclops Marksman", a Neutral 6 Mana 4/7 with "Twin Strike" became a Deception 6 Mana 4/4 "Guild"-Creature with "Hidden" and "Twin Strike".

Vault Vagabond: ⭐️

Changed from 1/3 to 3/3, but lost "Hidden" and "Flank"....

With this change Vault Vagabond is almost useless

Anti-Magic Expert: ⭐️⭐️

Changed from 3/10 to 7/6 and changed text from "Roar: Gain control of an enemy creature until the end of turn. Give it godblitz. It goes to sleep at the end of turn." to
"Roar: Gain control of an enemy creature until the end of turn."

The opponents creature now can be used after your turn. I think the part with "Give it Godblitz" is just a text cleanup otherwise the creature will not be able to attack anymore. (Text didn't changed to "Give it blitz"...) This would be useless

Nightleaf Trapper: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Previously "Wiccan Trapper", a Neutral 1 Mana 3/1 Mystic-Creature with "Flank" and 1 duability Relic Removal (you know this guy from the Sanctum). This Creature is now a Deception 1 Mana 2/2 Guild-Creature. This card lost "Flank" but now will remove 1 duability at the end of it's turn from the opponents relic. So now it's possible that this creature will remove more than 1 durability as long as it stays on the board.

I like the change and I hope that the Sanctum will also change in a few hours 😁.

A Toast to Peace: ⭐️⭐️

Mana Cost changed from 6 to 5, but Text also changed from "Pull each creature from the board into their owner's hand. Your creatures returned this way have their cost reduced by 2." To "Pull each creature from the board into their owner's hand."

You got the discount on this spell but will not get a discount for your creatures anymore....

Dark Knives: ⭐️⭐️
... lost "If it's hidden, give it flank."

Mercantile Marine: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Transformed from Neutral "Carthaginian Marine" to a Deception "Guild"-Creature.

Switch Duellist: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

"Hidden for one turn" changed to "Hidden". I like it!

Double Dealer: ⭐️⭐️

Mana Cost changed from 7 to 6. It's difficult to rate but I have the feeling that this card is still too expensive. This isn't a card I would put into my deck but maybe I'll change my mind if I'll get this card from "The Hollow"...

Veteran Archer: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This card got the Tribe "Guild" and now it's a deception-only. This Card is an option to "use your god power on enemies twice" + play a 2/3 for 4 Mana. I think that this is a good package.

Dionysian Drunk: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Changed from 3/2 to 3/3.

Shadow Paladin: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

This creature also joined the "Guild"-"Deception-only"-Family and it's text changed from "Hidden for one turn" to "Hidden".

Reconnaissance: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

This spell changed from "Target creature goes to sleep. Add a copy of the top card of your opponent's deck to your hand." to "Target creature goes to sleep. Gain a copy of a random card in your opponent's hand."

In the past you saw, what your opponent will draw next turn, now you can see, what your opponent is already holding. Maybe here is a combo with "Double Dealer" possible.

Thaumnetic Golem: ⭐️⭐️

This creature became a "Deception-only" card. Stats changed from 5/7 to 5/6, but got "Hidden". Text didn't changed.

One of the most important Atlanteans is "Phase Touched Golem". This creature gives every other friendly Atlantean Ward at the end of your turn. But this creature joined "Magic". Deception now have 4 Atlanteans (Shade Walker, Smoke Bomb, Sentient Amphora and Thaumnetic Golem). There a also a few neutral Atlanteas but I think that "Atlantean Deception Decks" will not be a big thing in the future because it's not anymore possible to protect the Atlanteans with "Ward".

Dart Maniac: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Another new "Guild"-"Deception-only"-Family member.
Sometimes it was very annoying when my opponent played this card (mostly Nature).
Now it's a Deception exclusive card. Also Dart Maniac will not hit a random enemy character but the weakest enemy creature.

This is an interesting change. Deception got a card to hit cards like "Shadow of Lethenon" (good!), but it also can hit a "Vibrant Fruit". This will buff an enemy creature. (meh...)

Umber Arrow:

Lost text "Give it Godblitz."

Like I already said for Anti-Magic Expert it must be just a text cleanup otherwise the creature will not be able to attack anymore. (Text didn't changed to "Give it blitz"...)
If the creature can not attack, this card would be useless!

I will talk about the new Core Cards later after a hard grind in the following days. 😉

I'll try a "Aggro-Guild-Deception"-Deck in the next days. If that deck is good enough, I'll show it to you of course.

With all these new "Guild"-Creatures "The Hollow" will give you way more different creatures than before. So if I'm lucky enough, I can try a few of these brand new cards without owning them. 🙃

I do not know about deception now but I do know that I got wrecked when I tried it for the first time this week cz I suck at it :p. Cant wait for the CSR to bring the changes though it is exciting to say the least

It just need a lot of practice, just keep playing and learn your your deck exactly works ;)

Yeah and sometimes I might discover that the deck has some wrong cards after using it for a while you see it does more harm than good. The key is time I guess

The text give it godblitz was cleaned up, so umber arrow and stuff still work the same way.

Hey! Intriguing changes are coming :)

Thalia – very interesting. A Deception sleep deck can be a good idea. Maybe this is the best idea considering new cards.

New Dart Maniac + Uncanny Rogue = a great combo.

Veteran Archer not only can react but it will be able to make two creatures (frontlines for example) hidden. Interesting.

More guild creatures means Frumentarii Instigator gets a bit more value. I want to give it a try.

Lokian Disciple – not enough health to be great.

Vault Vagabond – better they didn’t remove hidden.

Nightleaf Trapper in Sanctum – would be cool.

Among neutral, I want to mention Porphyrion - I enjoy his ward and ability that is the most confusing for the opponent. As I remember, a new one will be: 5 mana ward, 5/5, “At the end of your turn, increase the mana cost of your opponent's god power by 2 until your next turn”. Its price has started growing.

The Hollow - this is what I didn't think about - we will immediately get access to new cards through it! This is a chance :)

Probably, it is going to be a sort of race for getting new cards ... :) Some guys will have game-changing creatures next WR, some of them won't.
