I hit Auric Gold using a F2P War deck I customized myself today! It feels so good to beat the crap out of crazy meta cards. :P I don't think I should climb any higher though.... I feel I'd end up getting demolished every day and probably burn out from playing this game. Any suggestions on how to manage ranking up/down strategically?
Actively "Run the Gauntlet".
What do I mean by that? Each day, the first deck you win with determines where on the circle you begin your run. You can see this on the "RANKED" tab:
Notice the "Gauntlet of the Gods" area.
You gain flux for the first three wins for each God, each day, but you must go around the circle, unlocking each God. So, if you unlock the top slot, the NW/NE slots will unlock, allowing you to use decks of those domains, next.
Why is this useful? Your main deck is causing you to rise in rank before you feel ready to do so. Playing the other Gods, which you likely aren't as good with (yet ;P), allows you to lose enough to avoid ranking out of your comfort zone. If your ranking is high, keep Running the Gauntlet. If you're rank is getting too low, switch to your main deck and get some wins in.
You'll get flux useful for forging, and you'll increase your awareness of the other domains having played them yourself ;)
