Introduction

Late post because I was travelling for a long weekend! Well this past week’s quest wasn’t very creative haha. Probably the least restrictive one of all, you basically can choose from half of the available Gods. I did really want to play something I haven’t before, and thanks for my team Play2Win (https://play2wingu.com/), I was able to get my hands on the most expensive deck I’ve ever played… Control War! Currently I think it’s the most expensive of all of the meta decks if I’m not mistaken.

So, did I end up on top with this costly deck??

There are slight variations with Control War decks, and with mine I decided not to go with Devouring Blade, and we didn’t have any Pyramid Wardens in stock, so I decided to add emergency healing with Serris (and I’ve once had a 0-mana Serris into Sole Survivor played against me before and it was ingrained in my mind, but unluckily I didn’t get to do that….). I also added a couple of tech cards like relic removal and void hate in case I run into Anubians/Zombies or Relic War. Other than that the base is pretty similar to other Control War out there.

Unfortunately, even with this super expensive deck, I only ended up with a 60% winrate which put me at 18/30 wins. I knew Relic War was going to be a tough matchup for me, but I lost some other “easier” matchups like Nature because I didn’t draw my removal/heal in time. Pyramid Warden may have helped with that but it may have been a downside in other matches. I also never played this type of deck before so the inexperience definitely had an effect; sometimes I’m just guessing which God Power to pick between the summoning a 1/1 and Slayer.

It was definitely a good experience playing with this deck but as I play Control decks more I feel that I’d rather just go Aggro or Midrange because I don’t want to spend so much time on each match haha, some matches were going the distance at 30+ minutes. That could’ve been 3+ matches with an Aggro deck!

Next Challenge

The next challenge is probably the most interesting one, requiring 10 Legendaries in your deck. I think a few ideas with Deception, Light, and Nature. Deception and Nature has some good low mana Legendaries which helps to keep the curve; the former would do well with a Mid to Control deck and the latter can still go Aggro to Mid. With Light I was thinking of keeping the Aggro Light template but sprinkling Legendaries wherever I can. Let’s see what I decide!

You are indeed very lucky to play that very expensive, it must have been a very fast and very strong deck.

Oh it's not fast at all, in fact, it's pretty dang slow haha. You usually don't win until you get to 8 mana or later

Oh, I see, 8 mana must be like an eternity (six mana for me is too slow).

I have used "Sole Survivor" in my "War" deck and it is very powerful.👍👍👍

Yea Sole Survivor plus Savage Sweep is a lot of control!
