Spell Damage playstyle deck testing!

in Gods On Chain3 years ago

Hello everyone,

After testing another playstyle that I covered in one of my previous posts, the spell damage magic playstyle, I will be showing the results after 25 matches of the best I was able to come up with using my cards!

This deck was taken from the meta decks on GUdecks but edited with cards that I have in a way that suits the playstyle itself.

Games with such type of decks usually take longer than usual because with this playstyle your main goal is to clear the board as much as possible early game and finish it in late!

For more details about this checkout my post here.

And let's jump right into it!

The deck:

 " "Deck.jpg""

After several tries and editing this is the best deck I noticed that gives results with my cards!

Starting rank:

 " "Start rank mage.jpg""

The 25 games were started from ethereal diamond hoping to test it in both ethereal diamond and mythic!

End rank:

 " "Low myhthic 5.jpg""

The deck didn't have a highly high win rate but it was enough to get me to mythic and hold there!

Breakdown of each rank:

Ethereal Diamond:

Matchups Win(s)/Matches Win Rate

Light 1/1

Death 1/1

Nature 1/2

Mage 2/4

War 2/3

Deception 0/1

Overall 8/12 66.6%

Mythic:

Matchups Win(s)/Matches Win Rate

Light 1/2

Death 1/1

Nature 2/3

Mage 2/3

War 2/2

Deception 1/2

Overall 8/13 61.5%

Overall:

Matchups Win(s)/Matches Win Rate

Light 2/3

Death 2/2

Nature 3/5

Mage 4/7

War 4/5

Deception 1/3

Overall 16/25 64%

So after the 25 games, the overall win rate was 64%. Considering that I am not a magic main, and that the deck can be improved with better cards, I would say this is pretty decent!

Maybe with some deck improvement and a bit better cards, and more practice the win rate can get higher!

Remember always, practice makes perfect and it about the pilot not the airplane only!

The deck was able to hold me in mythic for 13 matches which is pretty good I would say!

Gameplay with this deck:

This game was in ethereal diamond against a war deck!

Conclusion:

Despite not having that insanely high win rate, this deck was pretty decent and the most important thing, it was way too fun to be honest.

I enjoyed playing this playstyle so much and I am looking forward to getting better cards and improving it! Maybe I would start to play it with the nature as well!

I advice everyone to try it and maybe improve it also and hopefully you will have an awesome experience!

That was it for this post, hope the deck brings you victories and next I will be covering popular playstyles for the deception god herself!

Hope you have an amazing day and keep grinding!

Mad love, Peace out <3

Love to see you building on previous content you have put out. Stay on this path and you will do good things. I am probably gonna fool around with magic this week myself. After seeing CopperPitch's post and YouTube video with his F2P magic I figure why not. Plus it is during the week so losses will not bother me that much. Have a great day and please keep up the good work.

I gotta check out that video also then! I didnt use to play magic often but did it for the sake of the post and It was more fun than I expected it to be. Didnt expect to love this slow rythmed type of play but apparently I was mistaken! And thank you for your kind words hope your magic path brings you victories XD

You would have loved a couple of months ago when ramp magic was the meta. Man Mirage88 was putting on a clinic of how to play magic. He was at the top of the leaderboards using ramp magic. Honestly the guy wrote the play book on ramp magic. But definitely check out CopperPitch's video it was a good one. And he was playing his magic deck on stream the other night in Mythic. So it is a viable deck.

i'll make sure to check it out kinda loved the diversity of switching between different gods from time to time

Hard to argue with your winrate, you must pilot this deck perfectly. However some changes I would try:

  • Defend the ramparts instead of Versatile conjuration
  • 2 Inferno may be too much, 1 or 2 Crystal rain may be better, maybe even instead of Mind jolt
  • 2 Ratify is a hit or miss, 2 may often be too much
  • Walls are nice, if you have them, Wall of storms are amazing
  • I also like Spellsight seer, maybe instead of Hogs
  • At least 1 All-seeing eye (I always use 2), that thing unansvered just snowballs the game soo hard

Also friendly criticism: pictures are nice, but GU deck codes are easy to make and helps the readers a lot.

I agree with your changes but I unfortunately I still do not have these cards :( that's why I said yeah the deck can be improved. And I love ratify hahaha. And I will be sure to add deck codes from now on also thanks for the comment <3

Most of the cards I mentioned are DO commons. You can buy them very cheap with GODS token you get from the Blessing event if you want them. Have fun <3

Thanks you too!
