In this post I will show you how to start playing Frontier format for free in Splinterlands.
Before I continue talking about Splinterlands, I'm going to talk a little about the gaming platform called Arcade Colony.
Arcade Colony

Arcade Colony is a web-based platform where mainstream games can deploy Web3 features. Newly created games, as well as previously released games, can now add tokens, digital collectibles, trading, renting, earning, and governance to their games. Thus, Arcade Colony hosts a series of published games similar to the Epic Games Store, Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or Steam, but unlike Web2 publishers, Arcade Colony augments new and existing games with Web3 features.
For more information about the platform, read the Whitepapper.
I'm playing 3 games on Arcade Colony and they are:
There's also the game Genesis League Goals on Arcade Colony, but I haven't played that game yet.
In Splinterlands and Moon Karts I'm actively playing, but in StakeHouse Den I'm just accumulating Hot Sauce to use in the future.
To keep up with Arcade Colony updates, join the platform Discord.
Let's continue talking about Splinterlands and the Frontier format.
As I mentioned before, there's a way to start the Frontier format in Splinterlands for free, and to do that you just need to complete the Campaign Mode in the game.

Go to the PLAY option and then click on Campaign, you will be directed to the page where you will choose the books to start with.

There are 2 books in Campaign Mode and they are:
Book 1 - Waur Medge Academy.
Book 2.
Only Book 1 is currently available in the game; Book 2 does not yet have a defined release date.

Book 1 has 17 chapters, and they are quite easy to complete. If you are a Splinterlands newcomer, then Campaign Mode will be very useful for learning how battles work in the game, so you will benefit doubly.
If you are a Splinterlands veteran, then you probably won't learn anything in Campaign Mode, but the scenes are fun.
In each chapter, you will receive Foundation Cards, and you will use them to play in the Frontier format and start receiving in-game rewards.

There are 4 ranked battle formats in Splinterlands, and they are:
- Frontier
- Modern
- Wild
- Survival
I won't go into detail about the other formats because the focus of this post is only the Frontier format.

Unlike other formats, Frontier only has 3 leagues:
- Bronze League
- Silver League
- Gold League
Each league will give you different rewards, and in the Frontier format you can claim 3 rewards per day.
Let's get to know the leagues and the rewards you can get in the Frontier format.
Bronze League

This is the lowest league in the Frontier format and the rewards aren't great, but it's a great way to start earning carts in Splinterlands.
Silver League

In the Silver League the rewards improve, but they are still not the best rewards in this format.
Gold League

This is the highest league in the Frontier format and in it you will start receiving Foundation packs as a reward.
Foundation cards aren't very powerful compared to cards from other editions, but they're a great way to start in Splinterlands. You also have the option to sell the cards and packs to buy cards from other editions or to start earning money in the game.
