The new Reward Cards have arrived in Splinterlands, and that means it's time for me to get new cards for my collection.
Before I continue talking about what's new in Splinterlands, I'll talk about Arcade Colony.
Arcade Colony

Arcade Colony is a web-based platform where mainstream games can deploy Web3 features. Newly created games, as well as previously released games, can now add tokens, digital collectibles, trading, renting, earning, and governance to their games. Thus, Arcade Colony hosts a series of published games similar to the Epic Games Store, Apple App Store, Google Playstore, or Steam, but unlike Web2 publishers, Arcade Colony augments new and existing games with Web3 games.
For more information about the platform, read the Whitepapper.
To follow news about the platform and games, join the Arcade Colony Discord.
There are four games in Arcade Colony:
I'm only playing three of these games: Splinterlands, Moon Karts and StakeHouse Den. I'll start Genesis League Goals soon, but first I need to read more about the game.
On my blog, I have several posts explaining my progress and strategies in these games.
Let's focus on the new Reward Cards in Splinterlands and my strategy for them.
Find information about the new Rewards in Splinterlands in the posts below.

My focus in Splinterlands is building a collection of powerful cards, and Reward Cards are a great way to do that. In previous months, Reward Cards also existed, but I was discouraged because I had to pay a high price to unlock them and make them tradable. The cards would still be useful in battles, but I like having assets in the game that I can sell at some point. So, I was inactive in Splinterlands ranked battles for a while and only participated in a few Guild Brawls.
With these new changes, I'm feeling the urge to play Splinterlands again, and now I can get tradable cards more easily. In the first link I mentioned above, you'll find all the information on how to get tradable cards by spending Glint or a small amount of DEC.
GWEN'S GLINT SHOP

To get cards, you'll need to spend Glint at GWEN'S GLINT SHOP, and you have two options:
Rarity Draws

In the Rarity Draws option, you'll be able to choose the rarity of the card you want; the cards will come randomly. This is a great option if your focus is on Reward Cards because you only receive Cards.
Loot Chests

The Loot Chests option also gives you cards, but you can also get Potions, Merits, Energy, Ranked Fortune Entry, and Jackpots.
This is an option for those who like to try their luck because if you hit a jackpot, you can receive something valuable that you can use or sell to get multiple cards on the market.
You can also hit the jackpot, sell it, and put the money in your pocket.
I'm unsure which option to choose, but I'll start with Rarity Draws because I want to get cards for my collection.

I have 8,000 Glint and will use it to open 26 Common Draws.

Each Common Draw costs 300 Glint and will give me one Common card. I'll have a 1% chance of this card being Gold Foil, and I'll use Alchemy potions to increase the chances to 2%.

Unfortunately, I wasn't lucky enough to get any Gold Foil cards, but these are great cards to have in your collection.
Practice Mode

I'll use Practice Mode to test some of the new Reward Cards I just received, but I'll test them at max level.
I'm using the Ghost Modern, Expert and Skilled Student settings.

BATTLE
These were the cards I used in the battle. Some of them are from the new Reward Set, and after this battle, I have no doubt how powerful and useful these cards are in battle.
The main highlight was the Sten SlateHelm with its Resurgence ability. With this ability the card returns to battle after being defeated and it returns with 100% health and armor, so it is a great ability for a card to have.
