In this post I'll talk about one of the cards that I consider powerful but don't see often in battle, and it will also be my entry for the Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge: Hidden Gems!
Before continuing to talk about Splinterlands, I'll talk a little about Arcade Colony.
Arcade Colony
Arcade Colony is a web-based platform where mainstream games can deploy Web3 features. Newly created games, as well as previously released games, can now add tokens, digital collectibles, trading, renting, earning, and governance to their games. Thus, Arcade Colony hosts a series of published games similar to the Epic Games Store, Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or Steam, but unlike Web2 publishers, Arcade Colony augments new and existing games with Web3 features. Let's go back to talking about Splinterlands and the Haunted Spirit card.
Haunted Spirit was a card I used a lot in the past, and I loved using it in my battles with the death deck because it costs little mana and is a great ally against monsters with spell attacks.
It's been a long time since I used Haunted Spirit, and when I read about the Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge: Hidden Gems!, this was one of the first cards that came to mind, so I decided to talk about it.
The Haunted Spirit is a rare card in the Death deck. It has melee attacks, costs 5 mana, and has 3 abilities in total.
Let's learn about the 3 abilities of the Haunted Spirit.
Heal
The Heal ability heals the Haunted Spirit for 1/3 of its maximum health once per round, with a minimum heal of 2 health.
This is one of my favorite abilities in the game because it greatly increases the card's chances of surviving during battle.
Magic Reflect
The Magic Reflect ability is one of the reasons the Haunted Spirit is a great ally against magic attacks because when it receives a magic attack, the Haunted Spirit will deal 50% of the magic damage it received to the monster that attacked it.
Void
The Void ability is another ally against magic attacks because with this ability the Haunted Spirit will only suffer 50% damage from magic attacks.
If you want to spend little mana and have a great ally against monsters with magic attacks, then the Haunted Spirit is the right choice.
I like to test cards in Practice mode, so I can test all the Splinterlands cards before buying or renting them. So let's use Practice mode to test the Haunted Spirit at the maximum level.
This is the configuration I use; it's great for testing cards, but if you want a bigger challenge, then I recommend choosing the Professor option as your Opponent.
BATTLE
In the battle, I used a combination to help the Haunted Spirit survive. The combinations I used were:
Summoner
- Astral Entity
Monsters
- Haunted Spirit
- Junker
- Boogeyman
- Silverleaf Warlock
- Supply Runner
- Lira the Dark
The strategy was very simple. I prioritized monsters with the Swiftness and Slow abilities. The reason I focused on these two abilities was to increase the chances of the Haunted Spirit dodging attacks and for my monsters to attack first to defeat my opponent's monsters as quickly as possible, because the fewer monsters my opponent has in the battle, the greater the chances of the Haunted Spirit surviving.
To further aid my strategy, I chose the summoner monster Astral Entity because it grants the Dodge ability to my monsters, meaning they have a better chance of dodging attacks.
There's also the Armored Up rule, making Astral Entity even more useful under that rule.
With this strategy, I managed to emerge victorious without losing any of my monsters.
