Getting older isn't the same as growing up. You need to mature with age and see things differently. It is important for you to follow these six rules because they will bring you peace, as they have brought me.

Quit oversharing
I used to be that person who would talk your ear off if you let me. The thing is, I’ve come to realize not everyone needs or wants to know everything about my life. Some people might not care at all while others might secretly be rooting for me to fall flat on my face, so now I’m more selective in what I share and with whom; it’s not about being secretive, it’s about valuing my privacy and sharing only with those who actually care, and trust me, they are very few.

Be careful who you let into your circle
They say you’re the average of the five people you spend the most time with and never has this been truer than in my own life. Having positive supportive friends that push me to be better has done wonders for my personal development, but don’t think it stops there either — family can play an equally influential role too! Letting just anyone access your inner sanctum could have disastrous results so choose wisely.

Less Waiting More Recognizing
In today's world, it is easy to be swept away by the current of always wanting more – more money, more power, more things.

But I have realized that this is not where true happiness lies at all. Happiness comes from within ourselves and not outside. Appreciating those little moments in life such as having a hot cup of coffee on a chilly morning or watching the sun go down over the horizon after work can bring an unmatched sense peace into one’s life. By changing what we focus on from what we lack to what we already possess has helped me find happiness like never before.

Try Your Hardest And Believe In Fate
I once was under the impression that success happened overnight – if I put in enough hours everything would fall into place just like that!

However this couldn’t be further from truth because success takes time; success requires patience; success demands relentlessness! Instead of losing heart when my dreams don’t come true as fast as I would’ve liked them to, I now put my faith in the journey itself while working hard every single day trying my best at whatever comes my way because they say “the harder you work, the luckier you get.”

Control Yourself, Not Others
I used to think that being in control meant having power over other people. However, I have found that this is not true – true power comes from within oneself. It is about controlling my thoughts, feelings and actions. So far I have been able to find more freedom and strength by focusing on what I can do something about and letting go of what I cannot.

React Less, Respond More
In the past, there was a time when my emotions ruled me; anything that upset me lead to an instantaneous reaction which was usually negative towards the person or situation involved.

What I have come to know though is if you take some space from it all & don’t let yourself get caught up with your initial emotional response then reply back instead of just reacting blindly out of pure emotion which only causes unnecessary drama or conflict most times.

This may be hard for people sometimes but mindfulness along side self-awareness has made me become an even better person who can handle anything life throws at them without losing composure.

Indeed, these six simple rules changed everything for me. They are so simple but they have had such huge impacts on my life. If you follow them they will make you better too !
