I am incredibly happy to have been able to visit this exhibition, because the most famous Ukrainians, including rulers, politicians, writers, composers, conductors, were embodied in the images of Barbie and Ken dolls. They were made exclusively for the exhibition "Barbie: Dreamers and Inventors"
All this became possible thanks to the network of children's stores "Antoshka". The heroes of the project dreamed, made discoveries, created: they invested talent and intelligence in their affairs.
The project employed 31 puppet masters and created more than 50 dolls in the images of prominent personalities whose lives or activities are connected with Ukraine. The focus is on the clothes and appearance of prominent figures. The masters complemented their images with their surroundings, created a whole world of heroes, depicted the spheres of their creativity and scientific interests.
Among the images that were on display can be seen:
- great rulers of the past: Vladimir the Great, Yaroslav the Wise, Bohdan Khmelnytsky
- writers: Hryhoriy Skovoroda, Ivan Franko, Taras Shevchenko and Mykola Gogol
- composers and conductors: Leontovych Mykola, Serhiy Prokofiev, Oksana Liniv
- artists: Ilya Repin, Kazimir Malevich, Vasyl Kandinsky
And many, many other people!
Also, this exhibition featured a lot of people who live next to us today. For example, the collection includes the soloist of the band ONUKA - Nata Zhyzhchenko, the representative of Ukraine at Eurovision - Kateryna Pavlenko (band Go_A), writer, poet and musician - Serhiy Zhadan.
I was so fascinated by each doll and the environment around it that I completely forgot about time. My goal was to take pictures of absolutely everyone! I liked the image of the Ukrainian poet of the past - Taras Shevchenko the most. You just look at the elements that surround it!
