Prepping Trip to Sydney Motor Sport Park

in Toys on Hive3 years ago

Hi Everyone,

Hubby’s dream for the last 1-2 years is go to the race tracks and enjoy half a day out with his car. Since our trip to Germany many years ago with friends and had a drive around the Nürburgring, he was eager to find something similar in Australia. We have two cars, one is our family car and one is his hobby car and since the kids are older now, he has more time to do things he likes so finally he booked a visit to the Sydney Motor Sport Park. The closest he was going to a race track was end of last year when we went to Bathurst but due to COVID, the tracks were not available but now with the situation better he wanted to go to a track asap.

Located at Eastern Creek the race track is around an hour drive from our place which is far better than driving to Bathurst for that particular race track. The one at Sydney Motor Sport Park offer days for normal cars and sessions for motorbikes only. The mandatory requirement to be on these tracks is you need a helmet. Hubby didn’t want to rent one there so he ended up getting a new one online. The other thing is you need to wear long sleeve and pants in case there is an accident, you are somewhat covered. There are 2 types of sessions for cars, one during the day which is a lot more expensive which hubby booked costing $400 and the other is a night session which still around $300.

Any road legal car is allowed to be on the race track. Our car is a 3L straight 6 so it should be enough to give my hubby a nice time not he race track. As mentioned above, he needs a helmet which it arrived today! The helmet costs around $500AUD and although it is not top of the line, it is sufficient for what it is required. If you decide to get a helmet online, you need to measure your head accurately to ensure the right size is sent, anything too loose is too dangerous if an accident happens. He also got some gloves which we already have so he is pretty pumped for next week. I won’t be there as I need to look after the kids but if you are on the tracks and want a passenger to be with you, the passenger also requires a helmet at a minimum and 12 years and above. I have told hubby to take it easy and don’t get too crazy on the tracks like our friend in Germany who totalled his car.
