Tribe of Sin: Could Hive Benefit From a "Back Room"?

Lately I've been wondering if there's a place here for a tribe that focuses on more taboo topics. I find sin, as a concept, fascinating. So many things can fall under the umbrella term, yet sins vary greatly, from detrimental to oneself and society at large, to distasteful or obscene, down to simply embarrassing or awkward.

Obviously some sins became recognized as such for a reason. No one wants to get murdered so we agree not to do it and anyone who does has sinned against not only the victim, but society as a whole. When our established norms are violated we all feel less secure.

Other sins, however, seem to have less to do with safety or security for society and more to do with control. Those sins are often shunned publicly, while embraced in private.

I think the point I'm trying to make is sin runs through so many things in our society, yet remains somewhat mysterious. Virtually every hit movie has a sex scene, yet sex is still a taboo topic. Most of the world's best art comes from creators that were battling or giving in to some personal demon. Rock and Roll is an entire genre of music built on the foundation of getting your f**k on. We criminalize drugs yet still have a multi-billion dollar market for them. Almost everyone loves to be bad but no one wants to be caught in the act.

This is why I feel like there's something to the idea of hosting a tribe of sin. With the launch of CineTV, I've noticed that the movies that have been watched and discussed so far are more or less wholesome. Good Will Hunting and Forrest Gump are, by modern standards, pretty mild. However, cinema is more than just entertainment. It's a cultural marker that gives a glimpse into the world and society in the moment. So would CineTV want to host a discussion of something distasteful by modern standards in order to promote discussion of how something abhorrent was so accepted or encouraged? Possibly, but that could leave a stink that never goes away. Same with art and writing, and even medicine. Our current medical establishment looks down on natural remedies in the same way religion looks down on unsanctified relationships. There are many fine lines that some communities may not want to get to close to but that doesn't mean those topics shouldn't be discussed. It's healthy to have an understanding of the whole, even if it's sometimes less than pleasant. I don't like to talk about excrement but if mine is the wrong color I damn sure want to find out why.

Having said all that, my concern is that it'll end up just being a dumping ground for bad porn or a troll cave or worse. Anyone have any input on the matter? Could HIVE benefit from a "back room" or would it just end up being something we wish we hadn't added?
