I’m getting used to drawing in the mornings; it’s the best time because power outages are very unlikely. This time, I wanted to focus my drawing on the eyes and try to recreate a “worn-out,” “tired” look. Lately, I’ve been feeling that way—too tired to be completely sane. My insomnia keeps getting worse, and it’s really taking a toll on me emotionally and physically. I like this drawing because I feel like it manages to capture a little bit of that exhaustion I’m feeling.

I made the sketch and then began painting the skin using light but saturated tones, mostly soft pinks and browns for the shadows. On a new layer, I added more colors to better define the face and blend the colors until I achieved a realistic face with a slightly rough texture.

Add a little more detail to the face by painting the eyebrows and eyelashes and refining the shape of the eyes; also, add some orange-brown tones to the hair. Add highlights to the areas you want to emphasize, and finally, I decided to add a very subtle blur effect to give it that “dreamy” look.
