A practice about drawing the sea. (ENG/SPA)

Greetings to everyone, in this post I'm going to share a drawing/study of the sea which is something a love because of its stethic but also for the feelings it can represent. I struggle drawing the textures and lighting a lot and have made several drawings of this theme but all of them resulted kind of meh but, even though is not what I would like to achieve, I think this one turned out pretty nice. Another thing is that I love to add sometimes these satellites or stars that are just simple and little detail but gives the feeling that it is not the planet Earth but a different and strange place.

Saludos a todos, en este post les voy a compartir un dibujo/estudio del mar que es algo que me encanta por su estética pero también por los sentimientos que puede representar. Se me dificulta mucho dibujar las texturas y la iluminación y he hecho varios dibujos de este tema pero todos resultaron un poco meh pero, aunque no es lo que me gustaría lograr, creo que este quedó bastante bien. Otra cosa es que me encanta agregar a veces estos satélites o estrellas que son simples y con poco detalle pero dan la sensación de que no es el planeta Tierra sino un lugar diferente y extraño.

And here are the step by step, I'll try to give some advice that I think it could be useful.

Y aquí están los paso a paso, intentaré dar algunos consejos que creo podrían ser útiles

First, I painted the base of the drawing: the sea and waves, the stars and the sky. Maybe is obvious but the sea is kind of a big mirror so where the sea is flat it turns of a color similar to the sky, that is why I use purple for the surface but a kindark blue with the more leaned sides of the waves.

Primero pinté la base del dibujo: el mar y las olas, las estrellas y el cielo. Tal vez es obvio pero el mar es como un gran espejo por lo que donde el mar es plano se vuelve de un color similar al del cielo, por eso uso morado para la superficie pero un azul un poco oscuro con los lados más inclinados de las olas.

Then, I added a cape of darker purple to the sea and some details of a lighter purple to give more texture, I also softened the waves so they wouldn't look like mountains. For the sky I painted some silhouettes of clouds and the center of the stars.

Luego, le agregué una capa de un morado más oscuro al mar y algunos detalles de un morado más claro para darle más textura, también suavicé las olas para que no parecieran montañas. Para el cielo pinté unas siluetas de nubes y el centro de las estrellas.

To finish I added light coming from the stars to the surface of the sea and clouds. I tried to give some curvature to the lights help to the effect of movement of the sea.

Para terminar agregué luz proveniente de las estrellas a la superficie del mar y las nubes. Traté de darle algo de curvatura a las luces para ayudar al efecto de movimiento del mar.

And this is the result that, I would say, it was more like a sea study than a drawing. As always I hope you had liked this post and, more important, the drawing. Have a nice day <3.
