Monoliths as park marker

in Sketchbook5 years ago

It’s been a long time since I contributed to the art community, about a week but with the pace that we have here, I can already consider it a hiatus.

For this post, I would like to share an idea for a park marker or a monolith in an important place. In this visual, I made a cluster of four monoliths that are semi-submerged in a shallow pond. I imagined these monuments to be positioned at an intersection of the walkways.

The monoliths are made of huge rocks that are monotonous as I’m a big fan of simplicity. So, here’s the final result:

Here's my modeling breakdown using SketchUp:

1.JPG

start with the base shape, rectangle

2.JPG

cut-out unnecessary parts of the base shape

3.JPG

extrude by 200mm

4.JPG

repeat the process to create 4 monoliths

Thank you for viewing my post.

I almost bypassed this as I thought it was a photo XD

Sorry you explained above but I didn't fully understand, did you recreate a monument or is this an idea you have for a monument? It's beautiful either way, so nice and elegant and simple but interesting to look at :)
