Art Journal: "A Twilight Escape" β˜•πŸ–ŒοΈ

in Sketchbook β€’ last month

Hello, Hiver friends and fellow art lovers! How are you all doing? I hope you make the most of your day. Let me share the new coffee art I just completed today.

This coffee painting captures a serene moment as sunset descends upon a calm lake, with a spreading tree framing the composition. I painted a distant small boat carrying two figures gliding across the water. The sepia tones create a dreamlike quality. I hope you like this post.

I used three painting brushes for this piece, which took me an hour to finish. For those interested in trying this unique medium, follow the step-by-step basic methods below.

Materials Needed:
πŸ‘‰ Watercolor Paper, sketching Paper, or stretched canvas
πŸ‘‰ Pencil and Eraser
πŸ‘‰ Coffee Powder
πŸ‘‰ 2 small cups ( lighter and darker shades)
πŸ‘‰ Ruler
πŸ‘‰ Clean Water
πŸ‘‰ Rag
πŸ‘‰ Paper napkin or paper towel

Brushes:
πŸ‘‰ Flat Brush /small #10, 10/32 / 8.0mm
πŸ‘‰ Liner Brush #2 / 2/32" / 1.6mm
πŸ‘‰ Filbert brush

Note: Keep all the materials ready before you start painting.

Basic Procedure:
β€’ Outline or sketch your painting reference.
β€’ Paint using a lighter background shade by creating a beautiful texture.
β€’ On the middle ground, paint the first layer of the subject.
β€’ The same procedure as the foreground.
β€’ Once the first layer is completely dry, you can proceed to paint with a darker shade of coffee.
β€’ Then add details to bring your painting to life. I used a liner brush for the thin details.

Take note: In putting details, you cannot have sharp lines and shapes unless it is completely dry.
