Hello, Art and Pet Lovers!
Eight days ago, I posted my very first digital artwork where I have painted a dog. Also, in that post I explain why I had a fear with dogs. Many people commented that they were sorry for my tragic experience of dogs and I thank them for that.
Today, I bring you another digital artwork of another dog. But this time, it has a name. He is Cotton the cute and bubbly shih tzu dog of my fiancee's sister. He is very playful and clingy to his owner but still very friendly to other people like me. He rushes to the porch of the house to meet us cheerfully and makes sure that he gets our attention when we enter the house.
He likes to lie down so that we can pet him. While doing this he will either lick your hand or playfully bite your hand without hurting you. He also like to reach anything placed in the centertable and play with it when he successfully gets it. He does this even if he has variety of toys in his cute little bed.
So, yes! I have already overcome my fear of dogs - except for the big ones! 🤣 I also want to share about my own dog named “Summer” but I guess she deserves a separate post for that.

For this artwork, I used the same tools! I still used my four-year-old iPad and of course the most favorite application called Procreate which costs 499 PHP or 10 USD and of course my surviving fist gen Apple Pencil.
For the process, you may watch the recorded timelapse included in this post but I still want to discuss it here to give more details and information.
Sketching
I sketched it using a brush called peppermint under the default sketching brushes. The sketching is simply done by selecting the brush and the appropriate brush size. I just made rough sketches of different shapes that I see while I was looking at the reference photo.Painting
After I was satisfied with the sketches, I just continued to painting. It would be a better if I had added a new layer but, I still used that same layer where I did the sketching. Then I used another brush called Soft Airbrush under the default Air brushes to paint the base layer of the subject.Detailing
To give more details on my painting, I still used the same brush called “Soft Airbrush” for this one but in a smaller size especially in creating the fur of the dog. I also used the smudge tool set still with “soft airbrush” to blend colors and/or soften edges.Finalizing
To finalize the fur of the subject, I used another brush called “shorthair” this is still a default brush another Materials. In this brush set, you can find also brushes that can be used to apply or render materials in your painting.

I hope you enjoyed reading this post, watching the timelapse video process of this piece in 3speak, and seeing the different backgrounds of this artwork.
If you want me to draw or paint something, you can write a comment for your request and suggestions! I also accept commissions that can be paid using hive or HBD. We can discuss that via discord or messenger.

Anyways, I also want to show how Cotton looks like not in a painting but in real photos. 😊 I hope you will find him cute and nice!
