After painting portraits from film scenes, I figured it would be interesting to make a self portrait with the current knowledge that I have with colors. I can say I have come a long way and I have become more confident with using colors instead of always second guessing the color decisions.

In my Royal Talens A4 sketchbook, I've learned to use the back side of the page as well (left) and they look nice as a spread too. Before, I would never use this side because if I ever decide to tear a page off then I wouldn't have to waste the art behind it... But that never happened and I like them being like this in the sketchbook. :D
I made some lines using the brush. I didn't really wanna make it look like me since my focus really was just the colors and I also had a pretty awesome reference photo which I took myself. :P The lighting was done on purpose for this study.

Then I applied blues and purples on the shadowed areas of the face and neck. This study is about the cool shadows beside warm midtones and highlights to emphasize light.

I was enjoying it quite a bit so I just followed the right proportions and in the end it looked like me lol. I'm not sure if I was really successful with the shadows cos I might have mixed them to look warm blues (instead of cool)... I liked it anyway. The colors on the nose and blush were added too tho it looked like a winter nose. XD
nice work :D
