It's a rare event to post twice in a day, although I gotta say, after coming back here, I find myself spending more and more on the 'chain. Man, I missed the interaction dearly. I missed having similar mindsets around me, and a place to speak openly. Anyway, that's beside the point.
It's April 28th, and in distant Beaconsfield, some 75 years ago today, a magical man by the name of Terry Pratchett was born. Sir Terry. Hard to think he's already been gone eight years when even today, he would've been so young. And with so many more trips to the Discworld under his belt.
The Discworld was something that changed my (and many other people's) life, and I owe thanks for that to my mom, because without her, I might've never known about Terry, or about the wonderful, brilliant mind this man had. If you haven't read any Discworld, I envy you. It's like Earth, except it's good. It's bloody brilliant, in fact.
And I wanted to do some kind of tribute to him, and to all the immense joy he brought to the world. So I did. I'm, as if I've said, no big artist, but I enjoy doing it. So this is how my morning started:

Anyway, there's this wonderful idea on the Discworld, where there are these things called clacks, which are a sort of semaphore tower, kinda like a telegraph, that can send messages (obviously). And when someone dies, you can choose to send their name through the clack system, using the code "GNU":
G: send the message on
N: do not log the message
U: turn the message around at the end of the line and send it back again

That way, the person isn't really dead, because the system still speaks their name. You can't die if there's someone out there still saying your name, and I know there are many people saying Sir Terry's name often. As far as I'm concerned, I'll keep saying it till I die, and hopefully my kids will, too. He was simply someone so extraordinary that any sort of finite human life would've seemed too little.

So, GNU Sir Terry. You are so sorely missed.
Poetry and drawing... love seeing you flexing new muscles!
This sketch is a great tribute.
Thank you! I'm working on a novel on the side (or primarily, rather), so I'm sorta using this space to play in other directions, as it were.
Well, now you're really giving me something to look forward to!
aww shucks xD
Oh I'm glad you're back and I missed it, as I've been SO BUSY this month, but just had to hop back on today :) It's fun here, at least that daily check in on Hive always makes me feel so. it still has that 2008 Blogger internet feel to me, which I so miss.
Also I LOVE Terry Pratchett!
Hey! Thank you! Great to see you :D Hope it's good busy.
GNU Sir Terry
