How to draw glass (lineart)

in Sketchbooklast year (edited)

Hello, hivers and artists!

Some time ago I bought course for drawing glass in different styles, but although it is very interesting there was no enough time to do all the homework. And now finally I can do it step by step. This first part was only sent for feedback to the tutor, and we will see which mistakes will be for corrections.

The tutor advised to copy all or the most important examples, but with lack of time I can watch tutorial before sleep and next day draw what I can remember for twenty minutes between Lilo eats and Lilo wants to play, next day again, few days later I finally manage to finish that part. After I watch again, find out that mine is different and think how to keep all the drawing principles together in my sample.

It’s longer way, but I believe it to be more efficient, and it’s the way to make more mistakes than from just copying, and learn from feedback as well.

And it’s absolutely the first time for drawing so much lineart with light and shadow principles, vertical light change, with calculations for perspective and fallen shadows. I’ve done plenty of analytics here, but it goes like this at the start.

The main idea is that glass is almost transparent, so we are showing the main form, but it also has glares and light reflections, which in line are shown by three lines on the surface. It can also reflect the environment, especially objects with contrast. The glass can be created with fluctuations of form and it will add the glares. It’s more often for old or handmade parts. And that can work as a lens for shadow part. Also the thickness and the form of the glass changes what we see from the other side.

Thank you for reading, I believe it to be helpful :)

And in order to keep it together I am adding the second version after correction
